In complete alignment with the Company's Vision, Mission and Values the position reports directly to the Operations Manager. This position is directly responsible for the production workforce and leading them to a world class level using World Class Manufacturing (WCM) tools and processes. The production Manager will directly and indirectly supervise approximately 80 employees.

EHS

  • Leads the production workforce with the highest respect of EHS charter and policies to achieve zero accidents, zero occupational illnesses and zero environmental impact.
  • Responsible for production teams’ compliance to legislative and SG EHS Standards
  • Participates on the Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) and collaborates with employees to eliminate hazards in the workplace.
  • Works closely with the EHS team to drive EHS improvements and create a safety-first culture.

People development and Engagement

  • Sustains a positive relationship with our Employees to promote an open and engaged culture.
  • Responsible for the development and proper training for all production employees to maintain stable operations while minimizing overtime needs.
  • Responsible for the selection, development and growth of supervisors and lead hands to build and maintain a pipeline of high performing frontline leaders.
  • Provides frequent and high-quality communication between the production teams and support personnel/site leadership to maintain alignment throughout the site.
  • Works with employees to solve problems, remove roadblocks and improve overall working conditions.

Leadership and Operations

  • Acts as a role model and ensures employee compliance the Saint-Gobain principles of conduct and actions.
  • Supports the development of operational goals and directs implementation of objectives, policies, procedures, and work standards where applicable as required by the plant and Company.
  • Manages the weekly staffing schedule for production shifts to ensure adequate staffing based on product mix, vacation, training needs while maximizing labour productivity.
  • Responsible for managing costs within budget for production supplies, headcount, overtime, etc.
  • Responsible for recruitment of new production associates and oversees the probationary review process.
  • Availability to assist the plant during off hours as required.

Customer focus - Quality and process Control

  • Works closely with the Quality team and supports the development of a world class quality system.
  • Responsible for ensuring high levels of quality testing compliance on shifts.
  • Supports the development of new quality and process standards to drive towards zero defects.

WCM and operations excellence

  • Acts as a change agent working with the WCM team to create a continuous improvement culture.
  • Participates actively in the WCM pillars and leads WCM projects with a focus on 5S and Autonomous Maintenance (AM).
  • Accountable for level 1 PCS shift meetings to focus the production team’s actions on KPIs and drive ownership and accountability down to the shifts.
  • Promotes and ensures the daily use of the WCM tools (HERCA, QEWO, EWO, QK) to drive continuous improvement of the operations.
  • Support transition to 4.0 plant through digitalization of tools for employees and data power for analysis.

IS THIS JOB FOR YOU?

What do you bring? 

  • BA or BS degree in Engineering or Business, (or relevant manufacturing leadership experience)
  • 5 years of supervisory experience within a lean manufacturing environment
  • Strong demonstrated understanding of manufacturing, lean concepts, processes and production environments.
  • Leadership and team building skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • High level of interpersonal skills for building influential relationships and partnerships with all employees and internal/external customers.
  • Excellent communication, organization and problem-solving skills are also required.
  • Knowledge of computer software: Microsoft Office, database management, ERP Systems.
