Malvern, Pa., March 20, 2018Saint-Gobain, one of the world’s largest building materials companies and manufacturer of innovative material solutions, has announced that Carmen Ferrigno, Vice President of Communications and Executive Director of the Saint-Gobain Corporation Foundation, was named a PR News CSR Professional of the Year. This award recognizes professionals who take chances, make incredible strides and understand the power of corporate social responsibility (CSR) in public relations.

Ferrigno was recognized for transforming Saint-Gobain North America’s overall approach to CSR. Since Ferrigno joined the company in 2011, he has developed a replicable and scalable approach to CSR that informs how the company operates its largest philanthropic initiatives, engages with local governments to enact real change and unlocks philanthropic opportunities in key business initiatives. North America’s CSR strategy is now clearly aligned with Saint-Gobain’s overall brand, which focuses on enhancing the comfort and well-being of humankind.

“Carmen’s commitment to CSR truly embodies our company’s mission to improve the well-being and daily life of people everywhere,” said Tom Kinisky, President and CEO of Saint-Gobain Corporation. “By driving Saint-Gobain’s CSR efforts, including our national partnership with YouthBuild USA and presenting sponsorship of LOVE Park’s Welcome Center, Carmen is helping us remain true to our principles, while encouraging us to push the boundaries of how we can always be better for our people, our communities and the environment.”

Ferrigno has helped expand and define the company’s largest philanthropic initiative with YouthBuild USA, a green building education and job-training program, now celebrating its 40th anniversary, which enables disadvantaged youths to transform their lives by learning in-demand construction skills by renovating homes and schools in their local communities while earning their high school equivalencies. Saint-Gobain’s national partnership with YouthBuild USA provides opportunities beyond funding, including building material donations for sustainable renovation projects as well as community volunteer days in areas where the company has business concentrations, including Philadelphia, Pa; Worcester, Mass; Canton, Ohio; and Schenectady, N.Y. Through this partnership, Saint-Gobain has created an affinity for its building materials among the next generation of the green workforce while providing young adults with the training and education needed to help fill the demand for skilled workers in the manufacturing and construction industries.

Ferrigno has also worked to elevate Saint-Gobain as a strategic partner of the city of Philadelphia by providing funding, products and expertise that support the city’s ongoing efforts to preserve and restore its historic landmarks, including the Welcome Center at LOVE Park.
