Carol Stream, Ill., May 30, 2019 - Constructech announces that Mark Rayfield, CEO, Saint-Gobain North America and CertainTeed is joining the lineup of speakers at the Constructech Technology Days Conference, taking place on August 21 - 22, at the DoubleTree by Hilton Chicago – Arlington Heights, Ill.
Rayfield began his career with Saint-Gobain in 1999 in a sales role within Abrasives North America. He spent the next two decades working in various roles, including as vice president of Saint-Gobain Abrasives North America; president of CertainTeed Siding; and CEO of Saint-Gobain Building Distribution United Kingdom and Ireland.
Today, he is the CEO of Saint-Gobain North America, one of the world’s largest building materials companies and manufacturer of innovative material solutions. He also serves as CEO of CertainTeed, Saint-Gobain’s leading manufacturer of building materials for commercial and residential construction.
On August 22, Peggy Smedley, editorial director, Constructech magazine, and president of Specialty Publishing Media, will sit down and have a one-on-one with Rayfield to discuss the transformative efforts to increase its agility and drive the growth of the company’s building solutions businesses in the United States and Canada.
“The future of construction is lean. Labor shortages, rising costs, and the need for more dynamic and sustainable structures offers a huge opportunity for us to help set the example of what lean construction means for the rest of the world,” says Rayfield. “I’m thrilled to be joining Peggy on stage to discuss Saint-Gobain North America’s efforts to create integrated products, services, and solutions that contribute to reducing the environmental impacts of buildings and processes while delivering greater comfort and well-being.”
This unique Q&A format will allow Smedley to get personal with Rayfield and to tackle the many challenges facing both the manufacturing and construction industries. The two will get serious about the hurdles related to waste in a tight labor market, as well as the need to reskill and reassess what is impacting the construction trades on a global scale. In addition, they will address such topics as sustainability, new construction materials, urbanization, and the market ahead for the next generation of workers.
“I respect Mark’s passion about inspiring and equipping the new generation of young workers to become involved in the construction industry,” says Smedley. “The only way we are going to solve the labor and trade gap is by all parlaying our expertise for a discourse that achieves something for the greater good of the industry—and that conversation continues at Technology Days in August.”
The two-day sessions and two tracks, one focusing on the U.S. and the other on global, will look at building sustainable cities of tomorrow, leveraging innovative technology, constructing future infrastructure, and gathering insights into reducing the labor shortage.
