Convinced of the urgency to advance the cause of sustainable construction in the face of climate challenges, demographic changes, and the need to protect resources, Saint-Gobain launched the Sustainable Construction Observatory in 2023. Today, this Observatory has released the second edition of its Sustainable Construction Barometer , a study conducted by the CSA research institute, to better understand the perceptions of key stakeholders and the levers to be activated to accelerate the development of sustainable construction in the United States and around the world.

Saint-Gobain announced today that CertainTeed Innovation Malvern, its research and development center located on its North American headquarters campus in Malvern, Pennsylvania, has received a Core Living Building Ready designation by The International Living Future Institute (ILFI), only the second interior renovation project in the world to achieve this distinguished status.

Saint-Gobain North America announced today that its team members have been named finalists in three 2024 Manufacturing Leadership Awards categories from the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM). The company’s CertainTeed Roofing plant in Oxford, North Carolina was recognized for its achievements to create a transformational culture, while its Saint-Gobain Life Sciences’ facility in Beaverton, Michigan was honored for its work in the category of sustainability and circular economy. In addition, Ben Thieme, an engineer with Saint-Gobain ADFORS in Dublin, Georgia, and Jonathan Miller, an Automation Integration and OPEX Manager at Saint-Gobain Life Sciences in Akron, Ohio have been recognized in the category of Next-Generation Leadership.    

Saint-Gobain, through its building materials subsidiary CertainTeed Canada, today announced its intent to acquire The Bailey Group of Companies (Bailey), a leading Canadian manufacturer of commercial metal framing and building systems. The complementary addition of Bailey’s existing line of high-quality metal framing products in Canada will broaden Saint-Gobain’s global offering in the category, and further enhance the company’s position as a worldwide leader in light and sustainable construction. As part of the pending acquisition, Saint-Gobain will also complete the purchase of the remaining equity and assets of its decade-long ceiling grid manufacturing joint venture with Bailey, The Grid Company. In addition, when approved, the acquisition will include all divisions of The Bailey Group — Bailey Metal Products, Bailey Metal Processing, and Agway Metals.

Saint-Gobain, through its building materials subsidiary CertainTeed Siding, today announced that it has achieved a 96% reduction (Scopes 1 & 2 only) in emissions from the manufacturing of polymer shakes, vinyl trim, millwork, and vinyl siding at its manufacturing facilities in McPherson, Kansas, Social Circle, Georgia, and Williamsport, Maryland, respectively. With fully electrified processes and 100% of the electricity used backed by renewable energy credits (RECs), Saint-Gobain has taken a significant step in its mission to provide low carbon siding products to the US market and reduce its environmental footprint.

Saint-Gobain, through its building products subsidiary CertainTeed Canada Inc., has completed installation of a heat exchanger system on its industrial drywall board dryer at its gypsum facility outside Vancouver, British Columbia, which is expected to reduce the plant’s Scope 1 carbon dioxide emissions by nearly 15%. This project, the first of its kind for CertainTeed Canada, signifies a substantial investment towards increased efficiency, output and recycling, and aligns with the company’s goal to deliver the most sustainable local products to customers.

Saint-Gobain today announced that it has acquired the business assets of International Cellulose Corporation (ICC), a privately owned manufacturer of commercial specialty insulation products, including spray-on thermal and acoustical finishing systems.

The acquisition of ICC’s assets will allow Saint-Gobain to reinforce its leadership position in light and sustainable construction by offering fireproofing and insulation solutions that will enhance energy conservation and efficiency in commercial spaces
