Supervises the daily activities of skilled maintenance personnel and assists with maintenance project work as assigned. Provides leadership in safety, quality, housekeeping, and cost reduction. Promotes positive employee relations throughout the maintenance organization. Supervisor is held accountable to ensure maintenance activities are carried out in compliance with all environmental, health, and safety requirements, policies, and procedures. This position reports directly to the Maintenance Manager.

Please note that this is an hourly role with a starting rate of $47.90

NATURE & SCOPE OF POSITION:

• Provides input into the planning and scheduling of projects.
• Responsible for planning, evaluating, organizing, and implementing assigned installation, maintenance, and repair activities and coordinating with other departments to assure minimum downtime for production and maximum safety of employees.
• Performs root cause analysis as well as implements sustainable countermeasures on losses related to maintenance.
• Ensures Preventive Maintenance (PM) is accomplished in a timely manner and to a high standard of quality.
• Be an active member of the Reliability pillar and manage project work related to it.
• Protect confidential information as directed.
• Work with the Maintenance Manager to develop PMs that drive improved reliability.
• Develops and maintains standard operating and maintenance procedures, and work instructions.
• Maintains records of plant and individual equipment performance.
• Responsible for improving the reliability of the production equipment.
• Report all EH&S incidents – Injuries/Recordables, Near Misses, First Aid, Environmental and Property/Equipment Damage.
• Conduct monthly SMAT Audits and weekly PM audits.
• Ensure direct reports are up to date on concerns and observations.
• Address and close out assigned concerns in a timely manner.
• Be available to respond to after-hours calls and come in during off shifts if necessary.
• Ensure adherence to Waste Management and Recycling responsibilities.
• Participate in Incident & Near Miss Investigations to determine root cause and corrective actions.
• Participate in the development, understanding, and review of all position JSA and SOPs.
• Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Organize and structure planned and unplanned repairs and preventive maintenance routines in a manner that will ensure efficient operation of equipment and plant operating systems.
• Directly supervise the hourly skilled maintenance employees in the improvement and maintenance of plant equipment, buildings, machinery, utilities, etc.
• Communicate expectations, measure and assess employee performance, and provide coaching and development opportunities for maintenance crews.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: The manufacturing plant is not temperature-controlled; dust, fumes, and high noise areas are present inside the plant. Manufacturing processes involve granules, sand, fiberglass, asphalt coating, crushed rock, and polypropylene. Noise levels exceed 80 dB in some areas of the site. Moving equipment such as forklifts, buggies, genie booms, and industrial sweepers travels throughout the facility, sometimes in congested areas.

• Requires a technical diploma or degree in the fields of engineering or manufacturing, including mechanical, electrical, and industrial, that provides a thorough knowledge of the skills utilized in manufacturing improvement activities; Equivalent experience will be considered. 
• Requires change management, methodical/analytical problem solving, and employee leadership skills with the ability to effectively apply those skills in a manufacturing facility in a leadership capacity. 
• Demonstrate problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with all levels of the organization.
• High level of knowledge and understanding of computer systems and programs, especially proficient in Microsoft Office applications, e-mail, and Internet access navigation.
• Supervisory experience and 5-7 prior years of related work experience in a lean manufacturing environment preferred. 
• 5+ years of experience building and leading teams with a track record of success, along with the ability to develop and implement action plans.
• Working knowledge of electrical systems is a plus. 
• Ability to lead small to medium-sized cross-functional teams in high-pressure environments.
• Demonstrate high performance history, proven ability to execute and get results.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001, 14001, and OHSAS 18001 is a plus, including continual improvement tools such as Lean Manufacturing, TPM, and Six Sigma.

• Set Up molds and machines to manufacture parts according to specifications using approved set up sheets to cycle machines
• Weigh materials and other specified ingredients per specifications/instructions and Load blended materials in hopper on molding machines as needed
• Operate Process Injection molding machines to produce specified product according to customer specifications and ensuring Quality of the parts.
• Inspect Parts for defects and make necessary corrections to troubleshoot them out of the process. Escalate when help is needed
• Measure Parts according to print guidelines using calipers, rulers, and other measuring devices.
• Meet Productivity standards on a consistent basis. Escalate issues to management that will affect productivity.
• Purge machines during the changeover process to ensure the machine is ready for the next cycle.

Reporting to the Manager of APS & AAE, the Advanced Application Engineer leads and supports key techno-commercial initiatives to ensure profitable sales growth for Abrasives North America across industrial markets (including Aerospace, Automotive, Bearing, Electronics, Cutting Tool, Foundry, Gear, Medical, Metal/Composite Finishing, and Primary Metals). The role includes identifying, collaborating, scoping, and executing projects with key customers and technology groups to provide abrasives solutions in existing and emerging growth markets.

The incumbent should have a passion for growing technical competencies and sales for Abrasives NAM, and have a history of developing key relationships with end-users, OEMs, and/or technology partners.  Familiarity with the Abrasives business structure, including product management, application engineering, sales, marketing, and general management, as well as the ability to network within these groups, is preferred.  The incumbent should be a hands-on leader who can own a project from inception to completion and is comfortable working in both lab and production environments.

Essential Functions

TECHNICAL PROJECT LEADERSHIP

• Lead and execute technical projects related to abrasive applications, products, and processes to achieve desired customer outcomes in alignment with commercial and technical growth strategies of the Abrasives NAM business.
• Interface and collaborate with field sales, application engineering, product management and product engineering teams to expedite projects and maximize chances of success.
• Deliver timely results agreed upon by the business and customers.
• Own projects from inception to completion.

FIELD SUPPORT OF KEY TECHNICAL CUSTOMERS

• Develop relationships with and support key external stakeholders (technology centers, universities, customer R&D labs, OEMs, etc).
• Identify, lead, and execute projects onsite at customer locations as needed to provide solutions.

TRAINING SUPPORT

• Support internal and external training related to abrasive products and application technology.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree - Business Administration or Engineering (Required)
• MBA or MS - Business Administration or Engineering (Preferred)
• 3+ years of experience in Sales or Product Management with in-depth knowledge of Abrasives (Required)
• 3+ years of experience in Abrasive Application Engineering or related field (Required)

JOB SUMMARY:

Set up and operates equipment to expose, flatten and lap diamonds in Infiltrated Dressing Rollers. This is performed by using various machines to bring in the form to customer specifications. Also requires frequent inspection of work in progress and manual adjustment. Performs other duties as directed by Lead Operator and/or Supervisor.

JOB SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:

This position requires an individual who is flexible and a team player.  The applicant must be able to work with deadlines and production schedules to assure a quality product is delivered on time to the customers.  A High School diploma or its equivalency is required, technical school training, apprenticeship program or equivalent.  Successful work experience and knowledge in set-up, adjustment and operation of machine shop grinders.  Ability to read and interpret work orders, charts and blueprints and specifications, as well as skill and knowledge necessary in utilizing shop math and measuring instruments is required.  Adherence to Quality Policy and Standard Operating Procedures and knowledge of those procedures will be a part of the daily process.  Must be motivated, focused, and clear thinking.  Ability to work safely and utilize good housekeeping is mandatory.

JOB RESPONSIBILITY:

• Reads, reviews and discusses work orders, instructions, or blueprints
• Obtains materials necessary to complete order
• Selects proper tooling, shank holder, shoe and table plate, appropriate diamond wheel, grit, grade and type
• Sets up grinding equipment and begins forming the angle on the diamond to specified tolerances (up to .0001)
• Visually inspects work in progress against the comparator chart and makes adjustments where necessary
• Maintains accurate records
• Maintains clean and orderly work area
• Follows all safety procedure, including wearing of required protective equipment

The Grinding and Finishing Technology division of Saint-Gobain Research North America is seeking a motivated Senior Research Technician to join their team in Northboro, MA.

The Senior Research Technician safely performs moderately complex activities and/or product development activities with minimal supervision. The new hire will collaborate with engineers and customers to solve related problems and address specific client needs. In addition, this position may also perform advanced specialized technical functions involving testing, analyzing, improving, installing, operating, and/or solving problems concerning complex processes, equipment, and products for assigned areas.

Essential Functions

• Conduct experiments in the areas of finishing, grinding, machining, tribology, and metrology on a variety of machines and a variety of materials including metals, polymers, and ceramics.
• Work with project leaders to develop new test methods, improve existing techniques, and update and create SOPs. 
• Work with engineers and internal customers to collaborate on the design of special fixtures & tooling.
• Use electronic data acquisition and metrology tools, such as micrometers and surface profilometers, to collect process information. 
• Record test and measurement data.   
• Perform preliminary statistical data analysis and present results.  
• Maintain laboratory equipment including set-up, operation, and troubleshooting of experimental equipment or instruments.   Lead troubleshooting initiatives and machine repair efforts.
• Perform preventive maintenance on equipment

REQUIREMENTS:

• Associate degree in an engineering, technical, or science-related field or in lieu of degree demonstrated equivalent knowledge with 4-7 years of experience
• Work experience with various equipment such as complex assembly and processing or test equipment with CN/CNC & PLC controls, and/or lathes, milling machines, grinders, and other finishing machines
• Ability to read engineering drawings
• Experience in Microsoft products including Excel
• Knowledge of AutoCAD, SOLID Works, and other CAD/CAM systems is desired
• Knowledge of CNC programming is desired

The Plant Supervisor, under the direction of the Production Manager, will primarily be responsible for ensuring that plant processes and timelines are met in a manner that is both safe and consistent with the goals of the company. • Liaise with other departments as well are other shifts to ensure that all parties are aware of the priorities for that day.
