WHY DO WE NEED YOU?

Order Picker/Material Handler - 3rd Shift (10:00PM - 6:30AM with possible overtime)

Under direct supervision, handles and maintains flow of materials and products in distribution areas according to established guidelines. Ability to operate motorized and non-motorized material handling equipment while accurately storing, shipping, and receiving product, meeting the company standards of safety, security, and productivity.

  • Efficiently picking orders, while using a Tugger (Powered Industrial Truck), and assembling product for shipment, ensuring that the exact number and product ordered is packed and shipped free of damage.
  • Maintain high standard of quality while picking and organizing product for shipment.
  • Using voice pick and/or radio frequency equipment for picking.
  • Completing equipment inspections daily and documenting findings on touch-screen located on equipment.
  • Operating material handling equipment in a safe and efficient manner following the prescribed work methods.
  • Maintaining the facility’s equipment and materials in a neat, clean and orderly fashion ensuring that product can be efficiently picked.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

 

  • Ability to read and effectively communicate in English, count accurately, perform simple math, and write legibly.
  • Familiarity with voice picking and/or radio frequency equipment is beneficial.
  • Ability to follow directions.
  • Must have good visual acuity, depth perception, and peripheral vision.
  • Must have no adverse hearing loss that cannot be corrected with hearing aids.
  • Ability to pass OSHA approved material handling equipment certification.
  • Ability to tolerate exposure to modest amounts of heat, cold, dust, noise, and vibrations.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift 30 lbs consistently, up to 50 lbs occasionally.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of frequency & intensity in other physical activities including, but not limited to reaching, standing, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing, stooping, kneeling & crouching.

Research Technician – Inorganic Materials & Processing

The Inorganic Materials and Processing group (IMP) at SGR North America is searching for a Research Technician. The IMP group supports Business Units in the development of ceramic powders and components for industrial applications including structural, thermal, electrical, and abrasive applications.

The Research Technician performs experiments involving ceramic processing and application testing of ceramic materials as well as the operation and maintenance of high temperature furnaces. This involves lab work, data acquisition, and/or product development activities with minimal supervision. He/she works with engineers and customers in solving problems related to ceramic processing or the performance of ceramic materials.   In addition, this position may also perform specialized technical functions involving testing, analyzing, improving, installing, operating equipment and products for assigned areas.

Essential Functions

  • Operate and maintain high temperature furnaces used to process ceramic components.
  • Conduct experiments as assigned working with project leaders to develop new forming techniques, to conduct performance testing and to record data.
    • Primary areas of responsibility will be ceramic processing, measurement, and characterization.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment including set-up, operation and troubleshooting of experimental equipment or instruments. Lead troubleshooting initiatives and machine repair efforts. Perform preventive maintenance on equipment as required and maintain 5S within labs.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

Required Qualifications

High School diploma or GED (demonstrated equivalent) required.

  • 1-5 years of experience in manufacturing or research required.
  • Hands-on mechanical aptitude required.
  • Ability to collect, enter, plot and manipulate scientific data using Excel, Word, PowerPoint required.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic knowledge of operation and maintenance of high temperature furnaces preferred.

This position is located at our unionized wallboard plant on Annacis Island which operates 24/7.  The Production Supervisor works a 12hr shift on a 3 days on/3 days off – rotating from days to nights.

Reporting to the Production Manager, the Production Supervisor is responsible for creating a culture of engagement within and between the plant teams to directly impact and consistently meet plant objectives and deliverables.  This position is also accountable for ensuring that production teams work collaboratively in the decision-making processes and that the decisions are in alignment with plant goals and objectives, World Class Manufacturing (WCM) standards, Key Performance Indicator’s (KPI), safety requirements and current Human Resources (HR) guidelines.  Finally, the Production Supervisor is responsible for all activities at the site and acts as the primary point of contact in off-hours and on weekends in the absence of plant management.

You will also be responsible for:

  • Shift performance reporting as required
  • Communicating with other Production Supervisors to at shift changeovers.
  • Accurate and timely recording of production data through GXO and SAP.
  • Coaches and mentor operators by influencing behaviors to meet assigned objectives to improve plant performance.
  • Manages the performance operators to achieve targets across EHS, Quality, Production and WCM Progress.
  • Coordinates production operators’ participation in WCM / Lean projects as part of daily work expectations. Leads AM projects and Kaizen events.
  • Continuously evaluates workplace for safety concerns and ensures behavioral safety initiatives are performed to goal levels.
  • Through coordination with other departments, leads production of drywall in a manner such that shipments meet customer requirements.
  • Ensure product is to specification and meets identified quality standards.

  • Interacts with consultants and suppliers to determine compatibility of other systems and products as they may apply to process improvement.
  • Develops and encourage innovative processes and equipment concepts along with follow through to Return on Investments (ROI) patents and / or proprietary intellectual property.
  • Analyzes operating problems, develops solutions, and leads the implementation of corrective actions.
  • Organizes and initiates run trials to evaluate equipment, process and raw material opportunities.
  • Responsible & Accountable for the integrity of the BOM including usage and deviations analysis.

What’s the job? 

  • Identifies internal and external resources to address gaps in skills and capabilities needed for the effective and efficient operation of the plant. 
  • Manages and teaches risk mitigation as it relates to employee and labor relations. 
  • Manage staffing and selection processes (including internal job posting, candidate sourcing, screening, interviews, and selection decisions).  Work with local temporary staffing firms and colleges and universities to staff for peak production seasons  
  • Direct and oversee performance management systems and processes (annual reviews, one-on-one coaching, progressive discipline, investigations) 
  • Develop and implement and insure consistent application of employee and plant policies and procedures.  
  • Manages Employee Leave compliance programs, including FMLA, STD, and LTD 
  • Manage new hire onboarding and job training and certification processes. 
  • Lead, support, develop direct reports.  Develop short- and long-range objectives, work assignments, workload balancing, and accountabilities. 

IS THIS JOB FOR YOU?

What do you bring? 

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business management, or related field 
  • 5+ years of management experience in a manufacturing setting 
  • 5+ years of labor relations experience in a manufacturing setting  
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. 
  • Experience with HRIS systems and data analysis tools 
  • Proven track record in employee engagement and development initiatives 
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams 

Pay Transparency 

Certain states require pay information be provided in job postings. The national pay range for this position is $111,000 to $177,000 per year, however, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.

In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount is 15% of base salary based on company and individual performance measures. The total target cash range (base pay and annual bonus) for this position, is $127,650 to $203,550.

Senior Research Engineer II/Team Leader - CertainTeed Roofing

WHY DO WE NEED YOU?

Saint-Gobain CertainTeed R&D center is looking for driven, talented, and experienced lead researcher to join our current team in conducting research and product development for the Roofing business, developing technical base, and formulating solutions for granule and biological areas of research. Projects will focus on improvement of processes, performance and product development activities related to CertainTeed Roofing’s extensive product line.

As a Senior Research Engineer the candidate will be expected to lead cross functional projects, executing research, and delivering project objectives. The candidate will lead R&D projects in the areas of product development and application technology, collaborate effectively with R&D colleagues, product managers, product engineers, application engineers, external partners and external customers, discuss, create and execute project plans, design and conduct experiments, analyze data, and present findings in written and oral formats. Candidate is also expected to play a role in proposing projects and programs to the R&D and to the business.

  • Utilizes broad technical background and experience to develop and/or improve products, processes, and performance and/or reduce costs within a major product area.
  • Stays aware of new technology applications and competitive uses of same in work with materials, products and processes, and in development of new knowledge and applies this to personal research/ products.
  • Lead projects within a structured process (Stage Gate), with proven contribution to product portfolio development and successful product launches.
  • Lead/identify cost reduction opportunities, consistent contributor to cost reduction savings.
  • Technical communications with internal competencies, university collaborators, suppliers and customers and utilize knowledge to advance projects and identify productive synergies and apply these to find solutions/advancement 
  • Submits proposals and takes decision on IP in agreement with upper management and business

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

 

  • BS Degree with a minimum of 12+ years’ experience, or MS with 7+ years of experience, or PhD with 3+ years Material Engineer, or Materials Science & Engineering, or Chemical Engineering, or Mining Engineering. Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology or other related disciplines
  • Experience within ceramics and/or glass industry and/or mining products is a plus
