The Role - What’s the job?

This is a staff position which has overall responsibility and accountability for the plant maintenance, tooling, automation, security, risk management, and engineering function of the McPherson, KS, CertainTeed plant, in the manufacture of Cedar Impressions Polymer Shakes.

  • Responsible for the coordination of capital projects for the plant. Ensures streamlined technical writing to accelerate the approval process; creates visibility and ongoing focus to facilitate plant compliance with all requirements. 
  • Responsible for the Reliability department functions. Fosters a working culture that is focused on a proactive, preventive approach to machine reliability; ensures PM compliance and responsible for asset management, including adequate inventory of stock items and sourcing of non-standard items. 
  • Leads, coaches, and manages a team of engineers, reliability professionals, and technical support personnel. Develops and partners with HR to provide a skill development program.
  • Develops and cultivates a “working safely” culture throughout the plant. Is responsible for the development and control of environmental, business continuity, and risk prevention programs.
  • Drives a continuous improvement culture through the use of lean, six sigma, and other world class manufacturing tools – ensuring achievement of key metrics and cost reduction initiatives.
  • Leads the plant’s automation program; understands the value, business impact, and capabilities of collaborative, industrial, self-driving, and mobile industrial robots.
  • Travel up to 25% for meetings, training, and collaboration with other Saint-Gobain sites and businesses.
  • Typical working hours are Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, with some after-hours accessibility.

What do you bring?

  • Education – Bachelor’s degree required with degree in an engineering/technical discipline required.
  • 4-7 years progressive management experience, including experience managing managers, supervisors, and/or engineering technical staff in a manufacturing environment required.
  • 1-3 years supervising maintenance reliability teams required.
  • Experience in managing CAPEX projects up to $10.0 M preferred.
  • Demonstrated quantitative analysis skills; ability to translate technical data into proposals; critical and independent thinking; Management of Change experience; and above-average knowledge related to engineering disciplines, automation, and materials science.
  • Ability to assess and develop people, hold individuals and team accountable, in accordance with department and individual objectives, resulting in a strong safety, environmental, employee relations, and operational performance.

Plant Engineer & Maintenance Manager
Position Description
Job Summary

WHY DO WE NEED YOU?

The Plant Engineer/Maintenance Manager will be accountable for all engineering projects (initiation through operational acceptance), the reliability centered maintenance strategy and implementation, and the management of the spare parts inventory of the Denver Plant under the direction of the Plant Manager.  The role is a senior leader of the plant and therefore is responsible for supporting the creation of a culture of excellence for safety, product quality, customer service, and overall cost for the plant.

SAFETY

  • Support a safe working environment in all areas of responsibility at all times.
  • Immediately correct or report unsafe acts or conditions through appropriate channels of resolution.
  • Manage incident investigations, review corrective action plan, recommend appropriate course of action, and oversee implementation.
  • Facilitate safety observations and incident reporting activities, keep an active record, follow up on necessary corrective actions.
  • Ensure safe work practices are built into all engineering projects, including design to ensure safe access for maintenance.

PLANT ENGINEERING, MAINTENANCE and CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT

  • Lead/write AR’s related to all initiatives following CT protocol with purchasing and finance.
  • Lead the commissioning and startup of new equipment, the removal of obsolete equipment, and the transfer and/or refurbishing of equipment selected for repurposing.
  • Create and implement a strategic plan for a Reliability Centered Maintenance approach to the plant.
  • Participate in self-development activities and training of others. Capable of training others to use basic hand tools, such as but not limited to: electrical testing meters, grinders, drills, hand saws, and basic machine shop tools such as drill presses, power band saws, sanders, and other related tools.
  • Participate with department budget preparation and track expenses. Keep applicable records of safety, production and maintenance reports, performance, and overtime.
  • Promote and facilitate team-based initiatives that continuously improve safety, product quality, production processes, delivery to our customers, and cost performance.
  • Train, challenge, and motivate employees to ensure understanding and compliance with Federal, State, Company and Plant Policies regarding safety, conduct, product quality, production, operator-based care, and process troubleshooting.
  • Schedule may vary with time of the year and the needs of the business. Must be flexible to schedule changes and must be willing to work what is required.
  • Promote and facilitate Site improvement opportunities, with a focus on project management, Kaizen events, and WCM projects.
  • Promote an atmosphere of continuous improvement toward safety, quality, customer service, and productivity, with focus on and initiation of cost reductions, process improvements, and any other site improvements.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

  • Bachelor of Science degree in an Engineering or Electrical Controls and/or Instrumentation discipline, required
  • A Master of Science degree in a related field, preferred
  • Electricians License and/or Professional Engineer (PE) a plus, but not required.
  • 10-15 years in Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering, demonstrated with a history of sustaining people, process, and infrastructure improvement.
  • Experience testing AC/DC electrical systems including single phase and three phase up to 1000 V.
  • Experience with motors, VFD’s, motor control systems, motor starters, high current fuses, PLC’s, HMI’s, hydraulic & pneumatic controls, hydraulic motors, hoses, pumps, valves, and piping systems
  • Working knowledge of major systems including HVAC, electrical, controls, plumbing, lighting, docks, overhead/sliding doors and life safety.

In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount is 12% of base salary based on company and individual performance measures. The total target cash range (base pay and annual bonus) for this position, is $98,000 to $151,760.

As part of the “Essentials of Finance” development program, you will spend 18 months assigned to one specific business unit or function as a Financial Analyst while also attending monthly training and development courses to further improve your corporate financial competency and contribute to the success of Saint-Gobain North America.

These positions will assist with analysis of monthly financial statements, updating recurring reports, supporting projects to improve efficiency, and ad hoc analyses.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Prepare financial statements for management reporting that will include, but not limited to:

  • analyzing business unit performance by providing financial analyses.
  • actual vs. budget and actual vs. prior year variance analyses.
  • balance sheet, income statement, cash flow statement data, and other key performance metrics.
  • Production reporting and reconciliation
  • Assist with annual inventory count.
  • KPI calculations and reporting

Extracting data from multiple systems to update recurring reporting. Including, but not limited to:

  • SAP, Qlikview, SFDC & Magnitude.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Recently Graduated from a Business School or Equivalent with a major in Accounting or Finance.

Job Summary

POSITION SUMMARY

Consistent with CertainTeed Gypsum Vision, Mission, Values and Objectives, the Reliability Engineer identifies and quantifies Line 1 and Line 2 root cause failure(s), and drives permanent solutions to address systemic or chronic mechanical deficiencies to world class levels of safety, environmental impact, quality, service, and efficiency standards within the financial internal controls framework. The position is responsible for: managing the Emergency Work Order (EWO) process, ensuring failures are driven to root cause and eliminated, improving plant up time, asset utilization, mechanical efficiency and capability improvements using proven World Class Manufacturing (WCM), Professional Maintenance and Reliability Centered improvement processes, the development of technical maintenance systems, and cultural and professional growth of team members.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Champions and models a safety first environment and keeps up to date on new safety policies, procedures and initiatives
  • Champions Reliability Centered maintenance activities, utilizing the Professional Maintenance World Class Manufacturing techniques in driving equipment reliabilities to the highest possible levels.
  • Works directly with the Maintenance teams to trouble shoot and inspect problem(s)
  • Troubleshoots and inspects problems, analyzing and resolving issues accurately and efficiently in a cost effective manner
  • Develops and optimizes inspection and time based preventative maintenance
  • Use predictive technology to drive equipment reliability
  • Utilize WCM tools to identify and eliminate root cause failures
  • Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs)to improve maintenance quality and reduce or eliminate issues

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Management or similar disciplines, or five (5) years of equivalent training and experience that provides a comprehensive working knowledge of the laws, regulations, practices and procedures of a Lean/World Class Manufacturing operation may be substituted for a degree
  • Six to eight (6-8) years of applied professional experience working in production in an industrial / manufacturing environment
  • Familiarity with Lean / World Class principles and practices

The Global Purchasing Category Manager - Components will collaborate with internal stakeholders to create and sustain a purchasing strategy for components. Developing a key supply base, identifying key suppliers and providing insight to the business on supply risk.

Key Functions:

  • Develop a category strategy for Components:
    • Filters, connectors

  • Identify gaps between BU needs and spend covered by supply agreements
  • Identify cost mitigation opportunities and report savings/avoidance achieved
  • Launch bids to obtain competitive quotes to secure best cost, quality and lead-time
  • Negotiate supply agreements, price and terms
  • Develop supply risk mitigation strategies, such as identify and qualify alternative raw materials

Business Management Support

  • Provide inputs to budget and forecasting process related to components
  • Provide market updates to sales and marketing related to components
  • Provide support to management of change process, to include change in component specification or regulatory compliance.

Regional Support coordination

  • Develop internal network to communicate and leverage purchasing support within Saint-Gobain organization (negotiated by Regional Support in Malvern) and improve BU compliance and or development purchasing benchmarks

 

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

Bachelor's Degree within Business, Supply Chain or Operations Management; Required.

Master's Degree within Business, Supply Chain or Operations; Preferred.

The ERP applications Manager will play a crucial role in the strategic and operational management of the ERP system used in the Life Sciences business. Reporting directly to the Chief Digital and Information Officer (CDIO), will be instrumental in transforming the ERP system to enhance efficiency across all business processes. T

Will provide oversight and serve as the designated approver for the P4 projects, which are focused on single site/functions.

Key Accountabilities:

Planning and Execution

Develop and implement a comprehensive ERP strategy aligned with the company's business goals and objectives. Collaborate with the CDIO to ensure the ERP strategy supports the overall digital transformation agenda of the organization. Lead the assessment and selection of ERP solutions that meet the evolving needs of the Life Sciences business.

Process Improvement & Efficiency

Identify opportunities to streamline and optimize business processes through the effective use of the ERP system. Collaborate with Business Process Owners to redesign processes for maximum efficiency and effectiveness. Ensure that the ERP system supports continuous improvement initiatives across all functions within the Life Sciences business.

Operations & Project Management
Will oversee management of operations and project management related to QAD, along with its product owner. Develop and ensure smooth support organization as needed for LS Business. Provide regular updates and reports to the CDIO and other senior leaders on the progress and outcomes of ERP projects. Implement best in class project management practices, from inception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget.

Training and Support

Oversee the QAD Product Owner in building and also ensuring delivery of training programs to ensure end-users are proficient in using the ERP system

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

Bachelor's Degree within Business Administration, Information Technology or a Related Field; Required.

Master's Degree within Business Administration, Information Technology or a Related Field; Preferred.

Proven experience in ERP management (direct experience in QAD ERP would be added benefit), preferably within the Life Sciences industry; Required.

10+ years of experience working on ERP Management, Driving ERP Implementation & Transformation in a Manufacturing Sector; Required.

  • Experience with the following mechanical systems: Hydraulics, ventilation/air intakes, acoustical insulation, engine installs, shafts and propellers, fuel systems, engine controls, wet exhaust, cooling, steering (power/manual), fire/bilge system, fire extinguisher system, gen-set installation, wipers, fresh water system, head and waste system, HVAC, mooring gear, labels and graphics, emergency equipment, electronic equipment
  • Must be able to figure, layout, cut and fit complex parts and shapes using blueprints, existing structures and template materials.
  • Excellent team working skills
  • Ability to work 10-hour day shift. Shift schedule may be extended or modified during plant commissioning
  • Ability to demonstrate acceptable attendance and work days, nights, holidays or weekends as scheduled
  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including hearing protection, steel toe shoes, safety glasses, and hard hats
  • Ability to lift, pull, push, and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Completion Bennet Mechanical Aptitude test exceeding minimum target score minimum of 70
