Job Summary

WHY DO WE NEED YOU?

The Operational Excellence Manager assists with overseeing all functions within the Peachtree City facility; production, maintenance, quality, shipping, and continuous improvement to ensure efficient and profitable manufacturing operations. Works closely with the Plant Manager and Operations Manager in a cross functional capacity to help develop floor supervision, promote positive labor relations, and provide communication feedback to all levels of the organization. Contributes to the success of the operation by leading and facilitating process improvement projects with accuracy and effectiveness in mind. Assists with the planning and goal setting process by developing, recommending, implementing, and achieving operational plans, goals, budgets, and capital requirements. The position will report to the Plant Manager and assist with strategic and capital expenditures planning.

  • Maintains open, candid and continuous communications with personnel from all functions to ensure that essential information is disseminated to insure accomplishment of critical business objectives and customer satisfaction.
  • Lead and facilitate process improvement projects using Lean, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement methodologies to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Develop and implement operational excellence strategies and roadmaps in alignment with organizational goals, ensuring integration with business processes and systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify process bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and areas for cost reduction, proposing innovative solutions to address these issues.
  • Leading and motivating their team to achieve objectives while adhering to company policies and regulations
  • Conducting research and analysis to identify operational strengths and weaknesses.
  • Developing and executing improvement projects
  • Review plant-operating practices ensuring that safety, production, and quality standards are maintained/enhanced.
  • Assure appropriate working climate by maintaining proper discipline, morale, and employee relations.
  • Participate in planning and/or decision making in matters concerning financial and operational problems, inventory control, plant policy, Facility/Maintenance issues and staffing.
  • Support the identification, development, and drive implementation of new manufacturing methods, equipment, material planning, quality improvement, and Lean and Six Sigma methods.
  • Report all EH&S incidents – Injuries/Recordables, Near Misses, First Aid, Environmental and Property/Equipment Damage.
  • Ensure adherence to Waste Management and Recycling responsibilities.
  • Attend all plant safety meetings including Central EHS – participating members of a plant EH&S Team.
  • Conduct weekly SMAT Audits or any other requirements as requested by Manager.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

 

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering.
  • Six to eight (6 - 8) years manufacturing experience in management capacity, prior first line shop supervisor as well as experience in at least two different manufacturing support functions such as Production Control or Quality Assurance.
  • Strong working knowledge of product structure, manufacturing processes as well as quality standards and modern manufacturing technologies and techniques, TPM (autonomous maintenance, professional maintenance and early equipment management), quality and process control including Statistical Process Control (SPC), 5S, standardized work and other Lean principles.
  • Proficiency in Six Sigma, TPM and Lean Manufacturing concepts.
  • Human Relations Skills Ability to effectively interface with and engage the skills and talents of employees supervised to improve business performance.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

What’s the job?

Category Manager - Gypsum
Position Description
Job Summary

WHY DO WE NEED YOU?

This position is responsible for managing gypsum categories of raw material purchases for IPG CertainTeed in USA and Canada, representing $250MM annually. This position is accountable for the strategic and demands and sourcing strategies and results impacting the business. This will include strategic negotiations with material suppliers and logistic providers and close collaboration with our mining experts in the business.

This position will work closely with the Sourcing Manager for Gypsum & DSG to implement the best sourcing alternatives for each of the board plants in North America.

All Purchasing corporate policies must be implemented and adhered to both at the category and site level.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

Strategic raw materials sourcing management:

  • Establish clear and formal long-term strategies for the sourcing of raw materials in line with Business Units goals and objective.
  • Member of team developing the strategy of Gypsum supply for NA, research, analysis, trial planning, presentation, and execution.
  • Responsible for market research for this commodity and design and drive the purchasing strategy of this commodity (environmental, indexes, routes, transportation, etc.).
  • Monitoring regional and national trends, threats and opportunities in the external environment and impact on CT DSG / Gypsum.
  • Fully research, understand and regularly update of the Gypsum / DSG Supply landscape in NA as is relates to competitors and their gypsum supply details.
  • Lead RFP’s and supplier negotiations. Continuously challenge suppliers and obtain competitive prices on all raw materials.
  • Implement formal supply agreements with all key suppliers with the help of the legal group.
  • Work across several CertainTeed BU’s for relevant raw materials categories and create cross-BU strategies in the best interest of the company.
  • Identify, lead and implement VAVE (Value Added / Value Engineering) projects with suppliers to right size specifications of raw materials or components purchased to increase end customer value and/or reduce costs.
  • Work with R&D for cost savings opportunities, Business Continuity Planning (risk mitigation) and New Product Development initiatives.
  • Ensure raw materials sourcing is compliant with Region Purchasing Policy and Purchasing ICRF (Internal Controls Reference Framework)
  • All RFPs required to use ProSource and are accompanied by the Supplier Charter and all contracts uploaded in ProcureNet

Other Programs and Reporting:

  • Support the Gypsum sites regarding inventory, special requirements for logistics
  • Support in problem-solving with Treasury, Accounts Payable, Finance and Site buyers / controllers.
  • Work in line with the worldwide organization regarding data sharing, opportunities, new sources, etc.
  • Full compliance with the Saint-Gobain Corporate Social Responsibility Initiatives (Supplier Charter, Ecovadis, Timber Certificates…)
  • Implement all Saint-Gobain Digital tools and programs applicable for the category.
  • Provide inputs to various Saint-Gobain reporting schedules: Budget, RF’s…

Other Duties:

  • Support Gypsum Purchasing team during budget, RFQ’s and other reports needed.
  • Participate in Saint-Gobain online and in-person training sessions.
  • Participate in monthly Purchasing staff meetings.
  • Participate in other Business meetings as defined in the operations cadence.

IS THIS JOB FOR YOU?

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Business-related field (Business, Supply Chain, Finance) or relevant experience in the required field; Master’s Degree preferred.
  • 5-7+ years of experience within a supply chain or purchasing role, preferably in the construction or plastics industry, with knowledge of the mining industry strongly preferred (gypsum, recycled gypsum, DSG, etc.).
  • Self-starter, organized, able to handle multiple projects, determine priorities, and have the ability to manage pressure and stress.
  • Ability to conduct activities confidentially and securely.
  • Familiar with leading high spend/complexity RFP’s
  • Contract understanding and redaction.

  • Manage the “Cost Deployment-Loss Identification” process for the entire Norwood facility and create/support teams that will work on improvement opportunities identified.

The Process Engineer will recommend and implement improvements to the equipment and methods for the Hot End Operations.
