The Process Engineer will implement World Class Manufacturing (WCM) projects, production and processing methods and controls to meet customer based quality standards in a manner consistent with CertainTeed Gypsum Vision, Mission, Values and Objectives (VMVO). Utilizing WCM principles, this position will focus on product formulation, process development and optimization, equipment design and optimization, general project engineering, and trial planning and execution.

  • Analyzes process variations; develops solutions and implements corrective actions by using advanced statistical tools in identifying and resolving the root causes of the variations in the process, and participates in resolving critical process and product problems with customers and vendors.
  • Responsibilities include the designing / developing new process systems, revising existing processes, and developing and coordinating the implementation of projects, which contribute substantially to plant profitability.
  • Interacts with Team for operational trouble-shooting, process improvement projects, production materials requirement, raw material availability and Quality Step Zero requirements. USE WCM tools and philosophy accumulated data to prepare diagrams and flow charts for the efficient operation of the equipment.
  • Interacts with consultants and suppliers to determine compatibility of other systems and products as they may apply to process improvement.
  • Develops and encourage innovative processes and equipment concepts along with follow through to Return on Investments (ROI) patents and / or proprietary intellectual property.
  • Analyzes operating problems, develops solutions, and leads the implementation of corrective actions.
  • Organizes and initiates run trials to evaluate equipment, process and raw material opportunities.
  • Responsible & Accountable for the integrity of the BOM including usage and deviations analysis.

What do you bring?

  • Bachelor’s Degree in chemical engineering, chemistry or similar discipline; or five (5) years of equivalent training and experience to have comprehensive knowledge of the practices, procedures and regulations associated with process control technology may be substituted for a degree.
  • Five to ten (5-10) years of applied professional process experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Two to three (2-3) years of experience in project management and project engineering fundamentals.
  • Previous experience with product formulation, water and foam chemistries, mass & energy balance, flow diagrams, Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID), fluid properties and thermodynamics.
  • Working knowledge of advanced statistical tools used to reduce variations.
  • Flexible, open-minded team player with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem solving capabilities to work effectively in corporate, manufacturing and team environments.
  • Ability to provide leadership and innovation at all levels of the organization.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Pay Transparency 

Certain states require pay information be provided in job postings. The national pay range for this position is $111,000 to $177,000 per year, however, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.

In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount is 15% of base salary based on company and individual performance measures. The total target cash range (base pay and annual bonus) for this position, is $127,650 to $203,550.

Logistics Supervisor

The Logistics Supervisor serves as direct leadership to the shipping and receiving staff. Maintenance Electrical Supervisor

What’s the job?

Supervises the daily activities of electrical maintenance personnel and assists with maintenance project work as assigned.   • Directly supervise the hourly skilled electrical maintenance employees in the improvement and maintenance of plant equipment, buildings, machinery, utilities, etc.
  • Communicate expectations, measure and assess employee performance, provide coaching and development opportunities, and administer disciplinary action if needed.
  • Provides input into planning and scheduling of projects.
  • Responsible for planning, evaluating, organizing, and implementing assigned installation, maintenance and repair activities and coordinating with other departments to assure minimum downtime for production and maximum safety of employees.
  • Perform root-cause analysis as well as implements sustainable countermeasures on losses related to maintenance.
  • Ensures Preventive Maintenance (PM) is accomplished in a timely manner and are to a high standard of quality.
  • Work with Maintenance Manager to develop PM’s that drive improved reliability.
  • Support Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) teams in the development of equipment ledgers and problem solving.
  • Develops and maintains standard operating and maintenance procedures, and work instructions.
  • Maintains records of plant and individual equipment performance.
  • Supports Autonomous Maintenance through training of craftsmen and ensuring that equipment basic conditions are maintained.
  • Responsible for improving the reliability of the production equipment.
  • Participate in the development, understanding and review of all position JSA and SOP’s
  • May be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned

What do you bring?

  • Minimum of 2 year degree in Electrical discipline (equivalent experience may be considered)
  • 5+ years of Supervisory experience
  • Good working knowledge of industrial automation, PLC’s, VFD’s, SCADA and Servo technology

  • General understanding of ISO methodology (ISO 9001, 14001, & OHSAS 18001)

  • Operating Jungheinrich material handling equipment to safely move product to locations and efficiently move product from outbound staging areas into trailers for shipment.
  • Efficiently picking orders and assembling product for shipment, ensuring that the exact number and product ordered is packed and shipped free of damage.
  • Completing equipment inspections daily and documenting findings on the GEMOne System
  • Operating Jungheinrich material handling equipment in a safe and efficient manner following the prescribed work methods.
  • Maintaining the facility’s equipment and materials in a neat, clean and orderly fashion ensuring that product can be efficiently picked.
  • Label product to the Grainer specifications
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

  • Ability to work 1st Shift from 6:30AM - 3:00PM with possibility of over-time
  • Ability to operate Rider Counter Balance (RC Forklift) and Rider Reach (RR Forklift) or willingness to learn
  • Familiarity with voice picking and/or radio frequency equipment is beneficial
  • Ability to read and effectively communicate in English, count accurately, perform simple math, and write legibly
  • Must have good visual acuity, depth perception, and peripheral vision.
  • Must have no adverse hearing loss that cannot be corrected with hearing aids.
  • Ability to pass OSHA approved Jungheinrich material handling equipment certification.
  • Ability to tolerate exposure to modest amounts of heat, cold, dust, noise, and vibrations.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of frequency & intensity in other physical activities including, but not limited to reaching, standing, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing, stooping, kneeling & crouching.
  • Ability to stand or walk for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift 30 pounds consistently, up to 50 pounds occasionally.

This position will support the Antrim Gypsum Project in Nova Scotia, a strategic project for CertainTeed Canada – Gypsum, working from monitoring and permitting, to construction and commissioning of a 2M TPA mine operation.

 

What's the job

As part of the project and mine’s staff, the Mine Environmental Technologist ensures pre-construction, development and operations are managed and developed to the highest standards of safety and environmental compliance.

As this project is in the permitting phase, having received Environmental Assessment Approval in late October 2024, the job holder is expected to work with contractors and consultants, and with a limited staff group through the final permitting and pre-construction phase.

  • Ensure H&S and Environmental compliance with local, national, and company standards, including compliance with EA, IA and FAA Conditions.
  • Provide environmental and technical guidance on the development phase monitoring relative to the daily mining plan and potential environmental impacts.
  • On a daily basis, observe the site development operations to ensure compliance to all environmental permits and regulations.
  • Conduct a broad range of environmental monitoring activities, including surface and groundwater sampling, flow measurement, rock and sediment sampling, air quality sampling.
  • Communicate information related to environmental activities and performance to First Nations Groups, both verbally and in writing when called upon.
  • Provide geo-referenced samples and information.
  • Develop and coordinate writing and review of SOP’s, SMP’s and job instructions for the mining operation on the tools, and techniques ensuring effective deployment of best environmental practices.
  • Property Tours (Mines Dept., School, etc.)
  • Regularly working with key project stakeholders to drive a culture of collaboration, participation, and continuous improvement.

What do you bring?

    • Environmental Technologist or a degree in a related field (Ecology or Civil Engineering or Biology.) Or equivalent training and experience of a technical nature and clear demonstration of success in similar business function may substitute for a degree.
    • 1 to 3 years of experience in mineral exploitation or environmental compliance.
    • Sampling techniques, lab test procedures and statistical analysis.
    • Survey instrumentation and mapping.
    • Computer applications related to mapping, AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite
    • Teamwork and coaching.
    • Strong communication skills and overall ability to share and inspire others and drive a continuous improvement culture.

Research Engineer II - Processing Technology

WHY DO WE NEED YOU?

Saint-Gobain Research North America is looking to hire a Research Engineer II to join their CRL Processing Technology team.

The team works closely with various Saint-Gobain business units to improve production processes, solve problems, and develop new products. The new hire is expected to manage R&D projects involving polymer processing technologies such as extrusion, compounding and injection molding. While not expected to be an expert in all these areas, the incumbent must be able to research and understand new areas of process technology quickly. The projects will be executed on laboratory and pilot-scale equipment at the R&D center, and in collaboration with our manufacturing sites.

The Research Engineer II should enjoy learning, problem solving, and potentially designing new processes and process technologies. The candidate is expected to create and execute project plans, design and conduct experiments, analyze results, and present findings in written and oral formats. The ability to communicate across all levels of the organization will be important part of this role. Manufacturing experience in any of the above areas as well as experience with 3D CAD tools and FEA, CFD simulation software for polymers is preferable but not required.

The candidate is expected to collaborate effectively with other R&D groups and engineering colleagues within other Saint-Gobain manufacturing locations, application engineers and external customers. In addition to the primary projects, the candidate will be expected to support projects led by others.

  • Technical skills and working with hand tools required.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge and ability to carry out Design of Experiment (DOE).
  • Batch and continuous compounding of thermoplastics preferred.
  • Thermoplastic injection molding preferred.
  • Basic knowledge and ability to use Solidworks preferred.
  • Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) modeling with ANSYS preferred.
