Maintenance Mechanic - Manufacturing

Impact:

Maintains and installs equipment, troubleshoots machines and makes repairs to the facility.  Also responsible for other duties as assigned and determined by business needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes the following; other duties may be assigned):

  • Safely performs machine repair and troubleshooting using OSHA and Saint-Gobain standards. 
  • Make repairs or fabricate equipment.
  • Disassemble production machinery and plant equipment to locate defective parts.
  • Remove and replace defective parts such as bushings, bearings, shafts, arbors, filters, pumps, gears and motors.
  • Reassemble production machinery and check manufactured parts to assure conformance to product specifications and proper functioning of equipment.
  • Perform repairs using the tools necessary to complete the task anywhere on the property.
  • Troubleshoot equipment or processes to determine root cause of problem to institute a corrective action including:

1.)   identify high maintenance problems and implement corrective procedures in a safe and efficient    manner.

2.) Interact with equipment manufacturers to troubleshoot and order replacement parts.

  • Paperwork, data entry and administrative tasks including:

1.) Maintain maintenance supply inventory records.

2.) Complete machine repair documentation using CMMS software.

3.) Participate as an active member on a WCM Pillar team.

4.) Specify and requisition electrical and mechanical materials.

IS THIS JOB FOR YOU?

Education:

  • 2 years Technical Degree or apprenticeship in Maintenance, Mechanical or Electrical Field of study Preferred

Work Experience:

  • 3-5 Years Mechanical, electrical and pneumatic systems background with experience in industrial equipment maintenance or equivalent demonstrated ability required.

 Technical Skills:

  • Basic PC Skills including use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). Ability to manage multiple priorties and to clearly communicate information received in both written and verbal forms.
  • Ability to use shop math (add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals) and compute rate, ratio and percent and ability to reach and interpret basic measuring equipment
  • Ability to understand manufacturing processes and to read blue prints, writing schematics, sketches, equipment service manuals, sample parts and general instructions

Estimated starting salary for this position is $25 - $35 per hour for external applicants. In addition to the hourly base pay rate, this position is eligible for periodic bonus payments/an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount can be up to 10% of annual pay based on company and individual performance measures. Manager, Financial Planning and Analysis - Insulation

The Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis provides effective and relevant financial analysis to support management and help business leaders make effective decisions and identify opportunities to help the business meet targets. Coordinating budgeting, forecasting, month end processes, ensure accuracy of financials, coordinate with all of the relevant parties to ensure smooth efficient processes.

Budget, Business Plan, and Forecasting:

  • Organize the process and financial analysis for the budgeting, planning, and forecasting phases of the fiscal year.
  • Organize the annual preparation of the budget and support the coordination with plant finance teams, purchasing, sales, supply chain and other functions.
  • Work with business managers, department heads, production planning, and the plant controllers to ensure that all budgeting requirements are disseminated, understood, integrated consistently, and completed as required.
  • Consolidate and verify data, bridge the drivers of period over period changes in performance to help the organization understand changes in performance.
  • Look for continuous efficiency improvement in the current budget models and analysis to improve accuracy, flow and streamline of the process.
  • Analyze budget/create and review business ad hoc analytics for reasonableness and proactively propose changes to improve financial performance.
  • Reconcile projections vs. actual results and prior projections and ensure the reasonableness of budget/forecasts.

Financial Reporting and Analysis:

  • Ensure the completeness and accuracy of financial statements, and related reporting.
  • The position must ensure for each accounting period that all elements of the P&L and Balance Sheet are accurate and complete and that all reserve requirements have been reviewed.
  • For each accounting period analysis must be performed on key variations to understand the drivers and the accuracy of the variations and keep a larger focus on the monthly trend evolution.
  • Clearly summarize the key drivers of the variations to help Management understand the accounting period results and unusual impacts.
  • Ensure that all required reports by CertainTeed and Saint-Gobain are completed timely and accurately.
  • Streamline reporting process for plants and central reporting to avoid duplicative work, inconsistent numbers, etc., and make reports useful, relevant, and intelligible for the end user. Ensure consistent application of accounting principles.

Business Decision Analysis:

  • Perform ad hoc financial analyses and make recommendations to support strategic decision making.
  • This involves working closely with managers in all functional areas to assess the financial viability of various business considerations.
  • Provide guidance and support to engineering and manufacturing managers who are working on capital projects, as well as subsequently conducting post audits of key investments.
  • Develop financial / operational reports and models which provide meaningful business data to management.
  • Closely collaborate with sales team with commercial strategy and decisions.
  • Support marketing with new product analysis.

IS THIS JOB FOR YOU?

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Economics, Engineering or related field with an emphasis on finance, or relevant experience in the required field
  • Master’s Degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting, a plus.
  • 7-10+ years of progressive experience in finance related field, preferably in a manufacturing environment

Central Process Engineer, Gypsum

What’s the Job?

**The ideal candidate will reside in the Cincinnati Area**

Utilizing World Class Manufacturing (WCM) principles, the Central Process Engineer II supports the execution of the process improvement strategy for the Gypsum Sites. Specifically, and under the direction of the Performance manager, this role assists the plants in the integration of known process knowledge, engineering principles and best practice equipment enabling capable operations. Key areas include: product formulation, process development and optimization, equipment design and optimization, general project engineering, and trial planning and execution.

Safety & Environment

  • Develop an understanding key safety standards and procedures that contribute to a safe workplace environment.
  • Continuously evaluates workplace for safety concerns and ensures behavioral safety initiatives are performed to goal levels.
  • Develops an understanding of environmental standards, good housekeeping practices following 5S systems, plant rules and safety regulations.

General

  • Participates on different project teams which analyze process variations; develop solutions and implements corrective actions by using advanced statistical tools in identifying and resolving the root causes for variations in the process.
  • Under the supervision of the Performance manager: Responsibilities include designing / developing new process systems, revising existing processes, and developing and coordinating the implementation of projects, which contribute substantially to plant profitability.
  • Responsible for safely and successfully executing projects, documenting, and with assistance from supervisor communicating progress and results through reports, presentations etc.
  • Closely partners with R&D and Engineering groups to ensure new process knowledge and equipment.

Process Integration

  • Assists plants in execution of key projects as identified on the plant process route map.
  • Supports process teams at the sites by:
  • Assisting the Plant in identifying process gaps to established best practice standards.
  • Aiding the plant in correcting process gaps and issues.
  • Working with site to establish clear process parameters leading to a more stable/capable manufacturing operation.
  • Providing trouble shooting expertise for process and equipment issues where capable
  • Performing equipment studies to verify proper and efficient operation of major process equipment.
  • Assists plants in ensuring process knowledge, operational settings and equipment quality maintenance is sustained via use of Step 0 and other WCM foundational systems.
  • Provides support to project teams during plant rebuilds and start-ups.
  • May assist with product development, capital projects, process implementation and commissioning, and regulatory affairs.

Training & Education

  • Supports training for engineers and local trainers.
  • Support Training of operators and maintenance personnel as needed.

  • Works with the Advanced Manufacturing team to leverage data in all facets of Gypsum Manufacturing.

The plant has a variety of electrical equipment including Allen Bradley PLCs & VFDs, Danfoss drives, Modicon PLCs and Ethernet communications. Working as part of a dynamic team, the position will be involved in all aspects of planned/unplanned electrical maintenance using Continuous Improvement tools and methods (TPM). This is a represented position and reports to the Maintenance Supervisor.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Read and understand electrical prints and schematic drawings
  • Troubleshoot and repair all types of electrical controls, including 460 volt - three phase motors and equipment
  • Troubleshoot and repair Programmable Logic Controlled (PLC) equipment, including Allen Bradley and Modicon controllers
  • Troubleshoot and repair Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) motors and equipment
  • Perform electrical control design work and equipment control modifications
  • Perform electrical equipment installations according to National Electrical Code (NEC), including all feeder and branch circuits
  • Maintain a safe work environment and the safety management of assigned employees. Must recognize unsafe conditions and practices and make corrections to prevent injuries and property loss. Required to complete safety audits/inspections of the assigned work area, thorough investigations of incidents and accidents, job safety analysis, and have periodic safety meetings
  • Support 5S and World Class Manufacturing initiatives
  • Work within the Safe Work Process and Permitting procedures in CertainTeed Roofing Inc.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

  • Capable of troubleshooting, repairing and installing electrical controls and equipment, including PLC, VFD and PC communication systems
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing
  • Must understand and use preventive and predictive maintenance systems and World Class Manufacturing tools
  • Must have basic computer skills, including the ability to learn/use the corporate CMMS (SAP) software, as well as be able to send and retrieve email, access company web pages through the Internet, and to use basic business software like MS Word and MS Excel
  • Self-motivated and willing to maintain and continue to develop his/her skills
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of three (3) years of industrial electrical maintenance experience

  • Utilize broad technical background and experience to develop and/or improve products, processes, and performance, or reduce costs within a major product area.

The qualified candidate will collaborate closely with internal and external partners and customers to enable the success of technology and product development and qualification. The candidate will rely on communication and people skills to identify customers’ unique needs and use creative problem-solving skills, combining literature search, scientific knowledge, and hands-on experiments. All of this will support current and next-generation products in high-performance materials and the construction material sectors.

The new team member will be a technical leader, leveraging their expertise in chemistry, material science, polymer science and engineering, and data analysis to understand how material structure-property relationships impact performance. The candidate will generate data to drive engineering and business decisions related to formulation, manufacturing processes, compliance, lifetime, and cost. Materials include thermoplastics and thermosets, composites, adhesives and sealants, novel green chemistries, and biopolymers with a focus on sustainability. Excellent communication and people skills are essential to effectively collaborate across all levels of the organization, influence others, and drive success in projects. The candidate is expected to understand gate process methodology/ideology and incorporate it into research projects.        

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

Required Qualifications

BS Degree with a minimum of 15+ years’ experience, or MS with 10+ years of experience, or PhD with 6+ years of experience in Chemistry, Materials Science, Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering or other related disciplines where technical judgement/accomplishments are demonstrated.

  • 6+ years of firsthand experience with formulation and process development in an industrial or research setting.
    • Must have practical and theoretical knowledge of polymer and composite materials – including formulation and structure-property relationships, performing standard material characterization and product tests, and interpreting the data and developing new tests.
  • Experience with industrial product and process development (minimum 6 years).
  • Experience with characterization and testing of polymeric materials (thermoplastics, thermosets, elastomers), composites, and adhesives & sealants, using a range of techniques, including thermal analysis (DSC, DMA, TGA), mechanical testing (tensile), imaging (SEM), spectroscopy (FTIR, NMR), and rheology.
  • Proven ability to champion efforts to drive HSE and environmental consciousness and lab safety.
  • Proven ability to think critically, learn and iterate quickly, strategize and organize tasks autonomously on assigned projects, and establish viable technical paths forward.
  • Proven ability to determine and execute IP strategy, monitor and summarize new IP, industry and scientific literature, and technical advances in key markets and technologies.
  • Experience with adhesives and sealants formulation and product development strongly preferred.
