The Maintenance Planner effectively co-ordinates day to day maintenance work plans and parts availability to meet plant equipment availability & spare parts demands.

  • Establish, maintain and improve the Maintenance Planning and Scheduling business flow process
  • Scope the full extent of maintenance work needed to conduct the relevant repair / preventive / predictive / design-out activities on the organization’s plant and equipment
  • Develop cost and time estimates of planned maintenance work
  • Write applicable maintenance procedures that promote defect-free maintenance work quality
  • Responsible for up-keep and accuracy of equipment maintenance history and job records database
  • Responsible for up-keep and accuracy of technical information on processes, plant and equipment
  • Convert the organization’s asset management and maintenance strategy into workplace activities
  • Maintain and execute site services contracts, schedules and programs.
  • Schedule maintenance work into production plan
  • Ensure key performance indicators are captured and reported for equipment reliability, maintenance department performance and planning and scheduling business flow process
  • Continually improving planning, scheduling, purchasing, stores, data management and job reporting systems to increase planning effectiveness and efficiency
  • Collaborate with maintenance supervision to schedule manpower and resources for the most effective production and maintenance outcomes.
  • Maintain and Continually improve World Class Manufacturing PM Step 0. 

IS THIS JOB FOR YOU?

What do you bring?

  • Post secondary degree, preferably a diploma in engineering technology or technical trades background.
  • 3-5 years experience in a maintenance function, preferably a planning function in an industrial environment.
  • Good working knowledge of a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), MP2 and SAP Knowledge is an asset.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs - Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Experience in an unionized work environment is an asset.
  • Some exposure to Lean manufacturing principles, World Class Manufacturing tools Etc.
  • Technical Skill trade certification.

The Job

 The position is responsible for initiating, developing, implementing, and maintaining production processes in conjunction with production personnel.  The position will help define process parameters and offer the engineering support that will allow manufacturing to meet established product specifications, quality standards, productivity objectives, lead times and safety standards.

Role Responsibilities

  • Improve production efficiency and enhance profitability through the application of World Class Manufacturing principles using Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing tools.
  • Implement Cost savings Projects arrived through data driven losses in Material, Downtime and Waste.
  • Provide hands-on assistance to Operators and Manufacturing personnel on the production floor to identity opportunities for process improvements and implement solutions.
  • Plan, devise, design, and participate in the completion of capital and non-capital projects in any technical area of the plant.  Improve manufacturing capability, process control, product quality, and fixed or variable costs.
  • Lead, direct, develop, and train personnel on new processes, equipment, and procedures as required while maintaining existing process documentation. Assist in the development of standard operating procedures and work instructions.
  • Provides general technical support and leadership to the plant supervisory and hourly employees.
  • Write project reports and make oral presentations of work progress to articulate and convey project developments to all appropriate supervisory, management, and manufacturing personnel.
  • Maintain technical competence and keep informed on new developments in materials, process technology, and product applications to ensure that the most appropriate methods and materials are used.
  • Responsible for compliance with applicable corporate and governmental guidelines, rules, and regulations pertaining to health, safety, and environmental issues.
  • Assist with Root Cause Failure Analysis investigations for losses in productivity and machine downtimes.
  • Perform risk assessments and assist with creating and updating job safety analysis. Conduct weekly SMAT Audits.
  • Participate in Incident and Near Miss investigations to determine root cause and corrective actions.
  • Support of the product line providing production management and technical support to both the internal and external customer base
  • Supports all ISA (Internal System Audits) activity.
  • Participate in the plant’s World Class Manufacturing (WCM) initiatives.
  • Responsible for compliance with applicable corporate and governmental guidelines, rules, and regulations pertaining to proper business controls, legal and EHS issues.
  • Responsibility for projects that are typically significant assignments within the annual plant objectives and may involve new products or processes and/or expansion of capabilities. Considerable ingenuity and the ability to work independently would be expected.
  • Responsibilities will require detailed follow through from start to finish on assigned projects to include complete project ownership. This may require some weekend work from time to time to accommodate for production schedules.
  • May be required to perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned by manager.

Instrumentation & Controls Technician, Production, Mfg- Tape Solutions

Impact: Saint-Gobain is seeking a skilled team player to join our dynamic Maintenance group. The Instrumentation & Controls Technician is primarily responsible for the maintenance and repair of the production equipment to ensure minimal production down-time and a safe work environment. Production equipment includes; material handling, bulk chemical systems, batch mixing, web coaters, extruding, converting, and packaging equipment.

The Instrumentation & Controls Technician is also responsible for the operation, maintenance and repair of the facilities equipment such as: HVAC, boilers, chillers, compressors, pumps, motors, pollution control equipment, life safety, electrical power distribution, network, hoists, docks and automated doors.

3rd Shift: 10:30pm - 7am, Sunday - Thursday

Pay: $25.00 - $35.00/hr plus $1.00 shift premium

Essential Duties:

  • Candidate should be able to install, setup and troubleshoot temperature, speed, weight, pressure, flow and thickness sensing instrumentation.
  • Able to monitor and troubleshoot controls using programmable logic controllers.
  • Set up and tune loop controllers and PID loops.
  • Maintenance and repair of electrical industrial control systems.
  • The position requires scheduled shift work, weekend work, and emergency call-ins during off shifts to support production.
  • The Technician will report into the Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Performs electrical and instrumentation & controls preventative maintenance, calibrations, and inspections to reduce equipment downtime.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

Required:

  • High School diploma or GED, with a minimum of 2 years industrial maintenance experience

OR

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent in industrial, electrical, electronics or instrumentation technologies from two-year college or technical school

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with analog temperature, pressure, flow, speed and weight measurement.
  • Experience with discrete sensors.
  • Experience with process loop calibration and equipment.
  • Experience with industrial control networks such as MODBUS, BACnet, TCP/IP.
  • Experience working with 480v 3 phase power distribution.
  • Experience with motor controls and VFDs.
  • Has working knowledge of major systems including HVAC, electrical, controls, plumbing, lighting, docks, overhead/sliding doors and life safety.
  • Experience using electrical test equipment.
  • Working knowledge of algebra and trigonometry.
  • Understand good safety practices and the requirements of OSHA and other safety-related codes.

In addition to the hourly base pay rate, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount can be up to 10% of hourly rate based on company and individual performance measures.

The total annual target cash range (Hourly Pay Rate plus Bonus, annualized (40 hrs/week * 52wks)) for this position, is $59,400 to $82,300. Bonus payments are part of variable compensation and by nature can vary based on company and individual performance and is not a guarantee.

Additional Pay Incentives for This Role Include:

  • Shift Differential (Hourly Rate plus Shift Differential of $1.00/ hr)
  • Standard Overtime (Hourly Rate * 1.5)

Impact:

Mixer Operator- Produces batches of materials that are used in the manufacture of products including adhesives, urethane and PVC foams. Batch sizes may run up to 7,000 pounds. The Mixer follows SOPs, production schedules and standard formulas to meet internal and external customers' needs. Accuracy in the mixing operation is critical to quality, cost-effective production of materials use in further manufacturing processes. The Mixer works independently and as a member of a team.

This role will be highly collaborative and work to support assigned Focus Factories/departments/plants and the Project Management central team. This position is to focus on C-FLEX twin and single screw extrusion, compounding & molding.

Key Accountabilities: 

• Production support

• Troubleshooting production (C-FLEX twin and single screw extrusion, Compounding & molding a PLUS) to alleviate manufacturing process losses

• Outsources the repair and maintenance of tooling, and ensures tools are serviceable at all times

• Control of contractors

• Support projects and change orders being conducted by colleagues

• Conduct Corrective and Preventative Actions (CAPA) to determine root cause and remediation of repetitive defects/issues

• Assess and authorize process deviations

• Advise on root causes of non-conforming materials Project Management

• Initiate and manage change order requests which include but not limited to elements of environment, health and safety, purchasing, quality, and engineering

• Plans, develops, and executes projects to reduce waste through improved manufacturing and process efficiency, using WCM methodologies

• Initiate formal requests for capital equipment using substantiated justifications

• Implement new processes and equipment by using IQ/OQ/PQ validations

• Updating validations as needed due to process changes

• Troubleshooting

• Drafting and editing SOPs

• Training World Class Manufacturing (WCM)

• Pillar activities

• Key Performance Indicator (KPI) management

• Performance Control System (PCS) management

• Lead and coach multifunctional Kaizen teams

• Auditing of pillar and kaizens

• Training

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

REQUIRED

Bachelors of Science in Engineering or related technical field

Manufacturing Engineering (3+ years)

Plastics experience with knowledge of extrusion, injection molding & compounding

Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables

Proficient computer skills (MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint)

PREFERRED

Knowledge of ISO, GMP, and FDA requirements

Continuous Improvement (WCM, Kaizen) green belt training or higher
