Job Summary

WHY DO WE NEED YOU?

The Operations Manager oversees all production, supply chain, operations projects and continuous improvement results to ensure efficient and profitable manufacturing operations. Will prepare and control departmental budgets, provide leadership in safety, housekeeping, quality and improving cost reduction. Contributes to the accuracy and effectiveness of the planning and goal setting process by developing, recommending, implementing and achieving operational plans, goals, budgets, and capital requirements. This position will also help develop floor supervision, promote positive employee relations and provide communication feedback to all levels of the organization.

The Operations Manager is responsible for mentoring and coaching personnel, direct supervision of departments noted above, and coordinating the activities to achieve site objectives. Working in conjunction with cross functional site partners, the Operations Manager ensures on-time delivery of high-quality products, that are produced in a safe and efficient manner while maximizing capacity with minimum cost.

As part of the site leadership team, this position will be responsible for directing Production, Supply Chain Leaders, coordinating between departments, implementing strategy and making the link to the functional management. Additionally, ensuring compliance to programs, policies and procedures as well as company and governmental standards. The Operations Manager will also manage the Production & Supply Chain teams to enhance true collaboration and achieve 100% positive customer experience.

  • Lead Project Management/Continuous Improvement teams through systematic cost improvements and implementation of state-of-the-art processes and systems consistent with Saint-Gobain Operational Excellence program and WCM Methodologies.
  • Work with stakeholders, internal and external customers on a daily basis and interfaces with such teams to meet customer needs and priorities. Responsible for interviewing and assists hiring.
  • Responsible for performance management, team member development as well as continual learning for assigned team. Monitors individual performance levels, and writes and conducts employee performance evaluations. Responsible for coordinating staff availability.
  • Works independently and holds employees accountable for following procedures and achieving results. Ensures equipment is kept in safe working condition. Enforces all safety procedures and policies. Responsible monitor output, productivity, waste, downtime, and business process effectiveness. On a daily basis, researches, reconciles and dispositions gaps between targets and actual results.
  • Audits areas to ensure processes and procedures are being followed in safety, cleanliness, process and methodologies. Implements concepts, techniques and processes, providing continuous performance improvement. Upholds the highest standard of excellence. All other duties as assigned by Plant Manager.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Finance or related area of study required; MBA or MS preferred
  • 6+ years’ experience in a management role in a manufacturing environment.
  • 10+ years progressive experience in a manufacturing and operational environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing teams and individual employees.
  • Must be a team player. Self-starter and meet commitments & deadlines with limited direct supervision.
  • Safe and quality work ethic. Understand SOP's that relate to department activities.
  • Must have knowledge of materials and inventory control practices, production scheduling in a manufacturing environment. Experience in an ISO environment and with problem solving tools such as “5 Whys”, Lean, Six Sigma, programs.
  • Good analytical problem solving skills.
  • Proficient in use of computers and spreadsheet software with experience with business systems (i.e. QAD, Kronos, Microsoft Office), and other computer hardware and software.
  • Must have ability to manage performance, leadership skills, initiative, strong organizational and decision-making skills, team building/motivating skills, and a high degree of customer orientations.
  • Six Sigma Certification or WCM Green Belt Certification preferred

We believe in the importance of pay transparency in what we offer prospective candidates and provide the national pay range for this position, which is $99,900 to $154,800 per year, however, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.

In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount is 13% of base salary based on company and individual performance measures. The Total Target Cash range (base pay and annual bonus) for this position, is $112,800 to $174,900. Bonus payments are part of variable compensation and by nature can vary based on company and individual performance and is not a guarantee.

Job Summary

Duties/Responsibilities

EHS and 5S

  • Ensure safe work environment in plant.
  • Be LOTO authorized.
  • Demonstrate active preventive engagement in EHS through performing STOP Observations and safety/environmental reporting.
  • Complete assigned monthly safety walk-through.
  • Identify, eliminate, and/or communicate any unsafe conditions.
  • Comply with all PPE requirements.
  • Comply with all CertainTeed Siding and EHS Policies.
  • Maintain and improve cleanliness of assigned work areas.

Maintenance

  • Perform a variety of tasks, which require a thorough knowledge of wiring techniques, wiring tools, and equipment.
  • Work from schematic, wiring diagrams, rough sketches, or manuals. Test various electrical circuits with a variety of test equipment.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in troubleshooting 2 & 3 Phase motors.
  • Recommend and/or maintain spare parts inventory of OEM parts and supplies.
  • Assemble and/or fit together cables to form complete units.
  • Calibrate equipment in accordance to their particular specifications.
  • Gather tools and supplies to be used at work site; keep tools in proper location when not in use.
  • Check operations of machines, lubricate equipment as specified, keep machines clean, diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test, and make adjustments
  • Assist with moving machines within facilities that can be done with available equipment and manpower.
  • Build simple interior or exterior structures, including working from prints or drawings. Understanding of trade codes is preferred.
  • Possess a beginning knowledge of welding and cutting equipment, as well as proper operation of hand and power tools.
  • Be able to read mechanical schematics and perform basic mechanical repairs.
  • Have a working knowledge of CMMS system (SAP), being able to create and close Work Orders (WO), and identify open WO.
  • Aid and assist operations as needed.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting of fluid power systems, including reading schematics.

Maintain forklift and manlift licenses.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
  • Maintenance certification preferred
  • 2 years Mechanical and Maintenance experience preferred
  • 2 years of Electrical experience preferred
  • 2 year industrial and machine-tool maintenance experience Preferred

Saint Gobain CertainTeed R&D center is looking for driven, talented, and experienced lead researcher/team lead to join our current team in conducting research and product development for the Roofing business, developing technical base, and formulating strategy for granules development. Projects will focus on improvement of processes, performance and product development activities related to CertainTeed Roofing’s extensive product line.

As a Principal Scientist/Group Leader, the candidate will be expected to effectively lead cross functional teams by managing others to execute and deliver project objectives. The candidate will be expected to lead R&D projects in the areas of product development and application technology, collaborate effectively with R&D colleagues, product managers, product engineers, application engineers, external partners, and external customers, discuss, create and execute project plans, design and conduct experiments, analyze data, and present findings in written and oral formats. Candidate is also expected to play a role in proposing projects and programs to the R&D and to the business. Further the candidate with be responsible for developing direct reports and others within group.

Functions of the role:

  • Proposes and or is assigned projects or programs for extension of present technology, including improvement and/or development of products, processes, techniques, and fundamental knowledge. Defines the associated tasks and milestones for research and proposes the technical approach, cost estimates, and time schedule. 
  • Manages multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring they are well documented and within budget to meet business and customer objectives. Manages and documents projects effectively. Generates project timelines/plans, technical memos, research reports, and presentations to internal customers, project teams, and/or management.
  • Lead a group of engineers/technicians (admin work, support on technical aspect and provide guidance). Defines the associated tasks and milestones for research, and proposes the technical approach, cost estimates, and timeline.
  • Lead and or execute strategic assignments related to either plant technology or equipment or business development, by performing analyses, setting up action plans and coordinating/executing such actions that are necessary to achieve the business goal.
  • Responsible for equipment purchases, prototype development, supervision of project team and compilation of results and recommendations.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 15 years of experience; Master’s Degree with 10+ years’ experience or PhD with 6+ years of experience in Material Science, or Mechanical Engineering, or Chemical Engineering, or Mining Engineering
  • Experienced within ceramics and/or glass industry and/or mining products.
  • Six Sigma GB Certification or Green Belt preferred

Senior Research Engineer I, STONEfacade
Position Description

Our CertainTeed STONEfacade team is seeking a Senior Research Engineer with specialized knowledge in concrete to join our team in Malvern, PA. The Senior Research Engineer is expected to lead efforts to develop new products to grow STONEfacade product lines within CertainTeed’s siding business. This individual is expected to have product development responsibility, which includes developing cementitious formulation from the mix to hardened state; characterization of each step; scale-up to manufacturing process; solve problems in the plants; and implement continuous improvements. This engineer is expected to use fundamental scientific principles, along with the latest research and methods, to reduce risk and ensure a successful product launch. Applied knowledge of concrete will be key. Additionally, this role will be fundamental in supporting STONEfacade’s digitalization and automation of several process steps (VOC, Quality Control, Paint, Packaging) to improve the plant productivity and new product’s time to market.

Responsibilities:

New product development and launch:

  • Lead the product development through design, formulation, and testing of cementitious materials to meet aesthetics, performance, sustainability, and cost improvements.
  • Collaborate with marketing, and production teams to ensure smooth development of new products from concept through to commercialization.
  • Conduct laboratory and plant trials, analyzing results to optimize product performance.
  • Align product development with market trends and customer needs to drive product innovations and improvements.

Process engineering, continuous process improvement, and plant support:

  • Work closely with manufacturing teams to streamline production processes, improving efficiency and reducing costs.
  • Analyze existing manufacturing operations to identify areas for optimization, implementing continuous improvement initiatives as well as digitalization and automation for multiple process steps opportunities.
  • Provide technical support to plant operations, troubleshooting issues related to concrete formulations, equipment, mold development or production processes.
  • Collaborate with plant engineers and operators to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.

Formulation development and raw material qualifications

  • Develop and optimize concrete formulations to meet aesthetics, performance, durability, and sustainability goals.

The Molding Operator will safely measure and cut silicone tubing to specific sizes and perform silicone injection over mold to create manifolds, per detailed drawings, attribute specifications, and routing notes. Schedule: Sun - Thurs; 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM

Starting Pay: $15.50/hour during the training period. $16.50/hour after completion of training period. $1.00/hour shift premium.

Job Functions:

  • Execution and oversight of a Quality Management System that operates in compliance with corporate quality policies and procedures, as well as relevant regulatory requirements (ISO:13485) and industry guidance.
  • Execution of document control and review/approval of controlled documents.
  • Execution and maintenance of ECO process including change management and review of all change controls.
  • Execution and maintenance of supplier quality management and performance of supplier audits as appropriate.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Engineering-Preferred, or Life Sciences-related field (Chemistry, Biology, or Microbiology); required.
  • Master’s Degree in MBA or equivalent; preferred.
  • ASQ Certifications desirable (CQE, CQM, CQA); preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in a regulated industry with preferred emphasis in life sciences (e.g., pharma, biopharm, or medical device); required.
