Job Summary

WHY DO WE NEED YOU?

We are looking to hire and experienced Industrial Electrician with 3-phase, 480V, and industrial troubleshooting experience to assemble, install, test and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand, power, and precision measuring tools. The Electrician diagnoses malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem. The Electrician is responsible for the connection of wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components. Responsible for observing and following all safety regulations with required PPE. Electrical Tech will report to Maintenance Supervisor or Electrical Engineer and support aspects of maintenance business. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • This will require an extensive knowledge of industrial electrical systems
  • Ability to assemble, install, test and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus and fixtures.
  • Maintain electrical equipment to meet regulatory codes at the country, state and federal levels.
  • Perform rigging activities, safety-related functions and other miscellaneous electrical functions.
  • Demonstrate safe and proficient use of shop tools (both hand and power).
  • Demonstrate mechanical knowledge
  • Competent with programming of VFD’s.
  • Must possess demonstrated ability to safely utilize a forklift and high lift.
  • Knowledge and ability to troubleshoot and program AB PLC’s
  • Must be physically capable of performing work from ladders, scaffolds, and roofs to install, maintain or repair electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures.
  • Proficient in testing electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Five (5) years of progressively responsible journey level electrical experience; OR, Completion of a four-year federally approved technical training program in electrical repair and maintenance OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved
  • Must be available to work 12-hour day and night shifts, weekends, callouts and overtime.

Controls Technician
Position Description
Job Summary

WHY DO WE NEED YOU?

The primary function of the Control Technician (CT) is supporting the glass mat operations through troubleshooting and repair of electrical, electronics, and instrumentation devices associated with the line automation system, as well as supporting ancillary utility systems/services. Support all instrumentation and controls field devices through regular calibrations and repairs. Works closely with maintenance team and controls engineer in daily support by providing electrical/electronic troubleshooting support and the preventative/predictive maintenance of electrical & electronic equipment. This position reports to the Maintenance Supervisor.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Responsible for the troubleshooting of PLC’s input and outputs (Digital and Analog) related to safety, automation, and control system field devices
  • Understands and performs electrical repairs to 480-volt 3 phase systems (wiring of motors, VFDs, power disconnects, install conduit repairs/demolitions, 3 phase wirings, and motor testing)
  • Conduct troubleshooting and calibration of thermocouples, RTD’s, level sensing devices, thickness detectors, consistency transmitters, load cells and other electrical/electronic devices.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance, resetting and troubleshooting of VFD’s (Variable Frequency Drives)
  • Perform electrical troubleshooting of plant equipment, machinery, utilities, and safety systems Both high voltage 480-volt 3 phase, and low voltage 24VDC)
  • Provide support to the Engineering department on new installations of electronic control equipment.
  • Assist management in root-cause analysis on losses related to electrical/electronic failures.
  • To closely work with the other Maintenance department crafts to support initiatives that improves equipment reliability.
  • Report all EH&S incidents – Injuries, Near Misses, First Aid, Environmental and Property/Equipment Damage.
  • Ensure adherence to waste management and recycling responsibilities.
  • Participate in Incident & Near Miss Investigations to determine root cause and corrective actions.
  • Participate in the development, understanding and review of related Job Safety Analysis and/or Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Communicates downtime or issues in daily shift handover meetings to verify effective handoff of information and activities
  • Further develop skill set of crew electricians

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

  • Minimum of 2- year degree in Electrical/Electronic discipline and/or 5 years prior experience in a continuous manufacturing environment
  • Thorough knowledge of AC/DC drive systems, Power distribution systems including switch gear components, Servo Motor Equipment and programming, Ethernet Networking systems, HMI and PLC connectivity & Troubleshooting, Electrical & Electronic systems integration, Electro-Mechanical design and troubleshooting
  • Annual Arc Flash training
  • Good working knowledge of mechanical equipment and systems operations.
  • Familiarity with MS Office applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

The Role

The successful candidate will exercise a working knowledge of the theories and practice of electric, electronic, pneumatic, combustion, and instrumentation systems; including test equipment. The Electronic Controls Repairperson will read, understand and work from all types of drawings, prints, and system diagrams and specifications with the highest degree of skill in their performance of maintenance installation and troubleshooting. The successful candidate must have a working knowledge of the range of voltages, Allen Bradley PLCs, instrumentation experience, troubleshooting 4-20 mA circuits, variable frequency drives, power generators, transformers, lighting, and servos along with Yokogawa DCS systems.

The starting pay is $39.00/hour and the rotating schedule is as follows:

  • Work Wednesday - Tuesday (7 days) 11:30 PM - 7:30 AM (3rd shift)

We believe in the importance of pay transparency in what we offer prospective candidates and provide the national pay range for this position which is $79,500 to $123,400 per year, however, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.

In addition to the base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount is 10% of the base salary based on company and individual performance measures. The Total Target Cash range (base pay and annual bonus) for this position, is $87,450 to $ 135,740 Bonus payments are part of variable compensation and by nature can vary based on company and individual performance and are not a guarantee

Job Duties:

Industrial Maintenance Mechanic

The Role
What’s the job?

The CertainTeed facility in L’Anse Michigan manufactures ceiling tiles. We work hard together to create an environment that teaches our employees manufacturing skills. We are looking for a dedicated maintenance mechanic to increase our team’s efficiencies by supporting maintaining our facilities and equipment.

Schedule: Training conducted on day shift (7 a.m. to 3 p.m.) with rotating shifts after training is completed. Individuals must be flexible on shift hours assigned and overtime requirements.

Compensation: Starting wage $29.98-$31.80 depending on experience.

  • Follow all safety rules and rules as established in the employee handbook.
  • Follow standard operating procedures.
  • Operate various hand tools including the use of hand grinders, drills, pneumatic air guns, etc.
  • Must have the ability to read machine diagrams and troubleshoot mechanical issues.
  • May perform basic/precision maintenance duties to include: reducer/coupling alignment, motor alignment, mounting taper bore bearings with taper sleeve adaptors, mount pillow block, and flange bearing to specifications.
  • Has the ability to dismantle, repair, and reassemble conveying systems (live roller, belt, and screw).
  • Has the ability to operate metal saws; is proficient in drilling/tapping.
  • Is proficient in welding, oxy/acetylene cutting, and plasma cutting.
  • Completes maintenance work orders as needed.
  • Maintains good housekeeping as established by Operator Duty Sheets and identifies gaps and areas for improvement.
  • Operates forklift as needed.
  • Maintains tools and equipment in good working condition.

The Multi-Craft person is primarily responsible for all duties currently held by both Mechanic and Electrician positions.

EHS Manager
Position Description
Job Summary

WHY DO WE NEED YOU?

Primary Functions:

The EHS Manager will provide direction and leadership to all plant department managers, supervisors and employees in matters dealing with EHS related matters and will serve as leader for the plant’s various safety efforts. This role proactively drives awareness, communicates best practices, and implements new programs related to Safety.  They will work to ensure safe behavior, machinery, and regulatory compliance for EHS through the entire site.  Facilitating collaborative discussions, projects and best-practice sharing across other key manufacturing sites regarding EHS topics will be required while also leading continuous improvement of EHS Management System.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Leadership: Lead the WCM Health & Safety Pillar, Crisis Management Committee, and contributing member of the Fremont Leadership Team.  Manage and develop EHS program throughout indirect reports to ensure safe behavior, safe equipment, and regulatory compliance of all outside contractors. Lead and oversee the efforts in support of the site's Statistical and Non-Statistical goals. Exhibits model behavior as related to EHS policies and practices and enforces safety rules and regulations in a manner consistent with the corporate Values and Attitudes. Work closely with RPG Safety Leadership and Regional Support.

Change Agent: Proactively drive awareness and communicate best practices related to Safety, promoting an autonomous EHS culture. Develop, schedule and deliver impactful and interactive training to supervisors, employees and contractors on subjects related to EHS. Identify and champion impactful initiatives seeking continuous improvement in safety performance and environmental compliance.

Safety Practices: Continuously inspect and evaluate the environment, equipment, processes, and workplace to ensure compliance with government safety regulations, corporation, and industry standards. Oversee investigations and reporting of incidents including near-miss, First-Aid and Accidents involving injuries and/or property damage and make recommendations for corrective action. Oversee and maintain site risk assessment initiatives such as Risk Assessments and develop and implement action plans. Work closely with Engineering, Maintenance and Production Departments to ensure machinery, tooling, and all equipment are safe and ergonomically sound.

Regulatory Compliance: Oversee the filing of all internal, corporate, local, state, and federal reporting relating to regulatory compliance and maintain ISO 14001. Responsible to stay abreast of current OSHA requirements and act as Site liaison for OSHA and maintain hazardous waste disposal program. Lead First Aid/CPR, PPE, and AED programs. Creates, implements, trains and audits environmental, health and safety policies, procedures, and practices for Fremont.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree four-year advanced degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
  • Master’s degree in engineering, Safety Sciences - Preferred
  • Three to five years’ experience in California safety/environmental management experience or related field.
  • 6 – 8 years - Experience in a manufacturing environment with a proven track record of success in reducing occupational injuries and maintaining compliance with pertinent regulations. – Required
  • Familiar with CALOSHA state requirements and OSHA logs and postings.

Pay Transparency:

Certain states require pay information be provided in job postings. The national pay range for this position is $99,900 to $154,800 per year, however, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.

In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount is 13% of base salary based on company and individual performance measures. The total target cash range (base pay and annual bonus) for this position, is $112,887 to $174,924.

  • Provides technical expertise and guidance to develop, manage and implement engineering analysis, activities, and programs to identify and resolve equipment and system problems.
  • Ensures relevant design criteria, specifications, practices, procedures and codes, and site design and safety and licensing basis are used in preparation of design media.
  • Ensures accuracy of design media in accordance with company policies and procedures and client expectations.
  • Understands Lean Manufacturing Principles (Kaizen, 5S, Pilot Projects) and participates, supports and is familiar with Continuous Improvements methodology as it relates to WCM initiatives.

Maintenance Electronic Technician
Position Description
Job Summary

What's the job?

The primary function of the Maintenance Electronic Technician is to trouble shoot pneumatics, electronics to the component level, as well as work on PLC ladder logic. The incumbent must work with thermocouples, RTD’s, various level sensing devices, thickness detectors, consistency transmitters, load cells, and other high-tech devices.

Hours: 7:00am-3:30pm M-F, weekends as needed on Saturdays.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
  • Will possess a thorough understanding as well as hands-on experience with electrical &; electronics maintenance principals.
  • Troubleshoot machine break down and repair situations and safely restore the machine to the proper operating condition.
  • Ability to solve machine operation problems using a skill set of deductive reasoning, and electric test meters.
  • Inspect, replace, or repair non-operational equipment and/or components of equipment that are hindering the equipment from operating efficiently.
  • Test electrical systems, and equipment, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes.
  • Work closely with the other Maintenance department crafts to support initiatives that improve equipment reliability.
  • PLC troubleshooting, repair, and programming experience required.
  • Rebuild the components to be used on the equipment in the plant along with reading and interpreting blueprints and layout instructions.
  • Complete understanding of hydraulic/pneumatic theory.
  • Comprehensive understanding and knowledge of electrical principles and adequate skills to understand various plant processes.
  • Assist line mechanics and electricians as necessary when needed to support production including all of the above listed tasks and other means of support as needed.
