Position Description
Job Summary

WHY DO WE NEED YOU?

Responsible for leadership of the maintenance planning. Will be a leader of Professional Maintenance oriented improvement projects in area of responsibility involving the incorporation of World Class Manufacturing (WCM) techniques and principles into all maintenance systems.

  • Scope the full extent of maintenance work needed to conduct the relevant repair/preventive / predictive / design-out activities on the organizations plant and equipment.
  • Maintain equipment records, generate PM, Tasks, and Planned Corrective work orders in SAP.
  • Plan and Schedule Corrective work to maximize crew utilization and effectiveness. Visit each job site with the requestor to gain a full understanding of the work required.
  • Develop cost and time based estimates of planned maintenance work.
  • Collaborate with Engineers, Maintenance Supervisor, and Superintendent to schedule manpower and resources for the most effective production and maintenance outcomes.
  • Prioritize and issue work orders for all maintenance work, keeping maintenance backlog at an appropriate level.
  • Create follow-up work orders from notifications. Maintain equipment history records and functional location hierarchy
  • Maintaining a safe work environment and the safety of yourself and others.
  • Must recognize unsafe conditions and practices and make corrections to prevent injuries and property loss. Required to complete safety audits/inspections of the assigned work area; thorough investigations of incidents and accidents, job safety analysis, risk assessments and participate in regular safety meetings.
  • Update documentation of all types: schematic diagrams, maintenance logs, standard operating procedures, standard maintenance procedures, and instruction manuals, to keep documentation accurate, available and ready for use as needed.
  • Occasionally coordinate & monitor fieldwork being performed by contractors.
  • Responsible for up-keep and accuracy of technical information on processes, plant, and equipment.
  • Able and competent in root cause failure analysis leadership and investigations.
  • Ensure KPI’s are captured and reported for equipment reliability, maintenance department performance and planning and scheduling business flow process.
  • Participates in WCM processes and projects such as Autonomous Maintenance, Early Equipment Management and Preventative Maintenance pillars.
  • Maintain work place organization and ensure good housekeeping practices in work areas.
  • Supports engineers and other technical staff in responding to problems
  • Open and honest communication with all employees to build trust and effective teamwork. Encourage involvement in achieving a shared objective toward goals and values.
  • Active involvement in World Class Manufacturing activities to include problem solving, continuous improvement, training and total productive maintenance.
  • Demonstrate a strong work ethic. Use time productively to accomplish challenging work goals and to develop efficient work methods.
  • Procurement of supplies and spare parts, maintenance of catalog and instruction manual files, etc., to assure parts, supplies, and literature are available when needed.
  • Create requisitions as needed; communicate purchase order numbers to vendors when received and obtain estimated delivery date.
  • Manage reconciliation of end-of-month open invoices
  • Define and promote best practices for keeping invoices and PO’s at a manageable level

 

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a high volume heavy manufacturing engineering environment.
  • Competent computer skills (particularly Microsoft Office).
  • Proven track record of successful Project Management.
  • Excellent data analysis skills, enthusiastic, and hands-on attitude.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong presentation skills, coupled with ability to lead a large group of people.
  • Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and/or WCM tools knowledge.
  • Ability to maintain attention to detail, completing multiple or repetitive tasks.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to accuracy and quality while meeting goals or deadlines.
  • Change oriented.
  • Is excited and energized by innovations in technology and systems.

Maintain the safe and efficient use of equipment, while adjusting settings to ensure accurate production of goods. Engineering Manager
Position Description
Job Summary

The Role

The Engineering Manager has overall responsibility and accountability for capital planning and implementation, plant maintenance, reliability, facilities, automation, security, risk management, and technical documentation. Balances strategic planning and vision with day-to-day execution of maintenance related activities in support of the plant commitments and goals.

Has ownership for capital management process including development of project funnel, budgets, pre-engineering, project preparation, submission, execution, tracking, and completion. Will be an expert in Saint-Gobain CapEx system in order to lead and train others and assure compliance with capital rules and procedures. Provides subject matter expert insight and guidance for all CapEx projects, regardless of department.

Represents the mill as the technical expert in engineering; mechanical, electrical, civil, automation and materials. Will coach and develop a team of highly skilled craftsman/journeyman, technicians, and maintenance managers. The Engineering Manager will also lead and represent the plant during all Paragon risk management visits/audits and will provide support during federal EPA and/or state DEQ audits. Engineering Manager will have direct responsibility over process utilities including the boiler and air compressors as well as building maintenance.

  • Directly supervise Mechanical Maintenance Superintendent, Electrical and Instrumentation Manager, and Maintenance Planner
  • Indirectly manage Mechanical Reliability Engineer, Electrical Reliability Engineer, and Automation Engineer as well as all hourly maintenance personnel.
  • Champions the safety culture of the mill and holds maintenance team accountable for achieving a world class safety environment.
  • Involved with all plant departments in the coordination and scheduling of plant repairs, equipment modifications or installations or demolition, purchasing and accounting personnel on requisitions and data, and corporate engineering on special projects.
  • Will work directly with vendors and outside contractors to obtain bids for new facilities, equipment or repairs or demolition, and governmental and insurance agencies on risk management and fire prevention, safety inspection, environmental issues, etc.
  • Significant problem-solving situations, scheduling of preventive and predictive maintenance programs and the installation, modification and /or repair of equipment in a manner which will assure employee safety, minimize production downtime and assure product quality.
  • As a senior leader on the mill management team, will be present and assist with union discussions and be directly involved in HR matters that impact the maintenance employees.
  • Expected to lead maintenance meetings with crews, ensure safety training compliance of the department, and general training of employees for skills development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering field or industrial management.
  • Will possess the necessary knowledge of the laws, regulations, practices and procedures impacting a manufacturing facility.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in industrial management plus approximately 10 years’ experience working in paper mills and/or the paper industry.
  • SAP systems knowledge (Strongly Preferred).
  • Experience with software programs such as AutoCAD, distributed control systems (DCS), PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, and other industrial control equipment.
  • Comfortable working in a team environment.
  • Experience using continuous improvement tools such as 5S, Lean, Kaizen, etc.
  • 5+ years of experience in capital project managements.
  • 5+ years of experience leading/directing maintenance teams.
  • Professional knowledge of plant engineering disciplines and maintenance systems.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite.

 

Additional Requirements

  • Act as a backup for Mechanical Maintenance Superintendent, Electrical and Instrumentation Manager, and potentially Plant Manager and/or Production Superintendents.
  • Assist 5S and housekeeping efforts by providing maintenance support to help achieve goals.
  • Oversight for plant documentation for all equipment and systems.

We believe in the importance of pay transparency in what we offer prospective candidates and provide the national pay range for this position which is $99,900 to $154,800 per year, however, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.

In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount is 12% of base salary based on company and individual performance measures. Bonus payments are part of variable compensation and by nature can vary based on company and individual performance and is not a guarantee.

Manufacturing processes involve granules, sand, fiberglass, asphalt coating, crushed rock, and polypropylene. Noise levels exceed 80 dB in some areas of the site. Moving equipment such as fork lifts, buggies, genie booms and industrial sweepers travel throughout the facility, sometimes in congested areas

Physical/Mental Requirements:

Ability to work an average of 40 hours per week, speak clearly so others understand, vision acuity for this position include close vision, peripheral vision and depth perception. Ability to lift a 70 to 90 pound bundle of shingles without assistance. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; and reach with hands and arms. Process Champion, Insulation
Position Description
Job Summary

WHY DO WE NEED YOU?

*This position must be based out of Athens, Georigia

Utilizing World Class Manufacturing (WCM) principles, the Process Champion supports the execution of the process improvement strategy for the Insulation Sites by ensuring assimilation and integration of known process knowledge, engineering principles and best practice equipment enabling capable operations. Process Integration

• Assists plants in execution of key projects as identified on the plant process route map.

• Provides overall process leadership for sites by being technical experts in one or more areas of Insulation manufacturing by:

• Ensuring process gaps to established best practice standards are identified at each site.

• Recommending and aiding the plant in correcting process gaps and issues.

• Working with site to establish clear process parameters leading to a more stable/capable manufacturing operation.

• Providing process and quality-based engineering and maintenance advice to plant operating personnel

• Providing troubleshooting expertise for process and equipment issues

• Performing equipment studies to verify proper and efficient operation of major process equipment

• Assists plants in ensuring process knowledge, operational settings and equipment quality maintenance is sustained via use of Step 0 and other WCM foundational systems.

Training & Education

• Principal trainer for engineers and local trainers.

• Support Training of operators and maintenance personnel as needed.

• Works with the Advanced Manufacturing team to leverage data in all facets of Insulation Manufacturing.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

• Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical, Ceramic or Material Science Engineering or equivalent experience in similar industries required

• 5-7 years’ experience in insulation manufacturing in one or more of the following areas: Batch, Furnace and forehearth, Binder, Fiberizing

• Minitab experience preferred

• Understanding of mass & energy balance, flow diagrams, Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID), fluid properties and thermodynamics preferred

• Excellent problem solving capabilities and the ability to work independently on assigned tasks

This position is a remote/home based position that requires travel up to 60% as the role permits to any of our Manufacturing Roofing plants within the domestic U.S.

The incumbent will contribute as part of a team to development and safe implementation of equipment and installation (packages) within capital projects for the CertainTeed Roofing manufacturing plants. They will safely implement capital projects for process plants including civil and structural design development, procurement, installation, and commissioning.

The Principal Civil Engineer reports to the Project Engineering Manager within the Project Management Office (PMO) and works for the Project Managers within the PMO in the assigned project, meeting or exceeding their expectations in terms of scope, cost, schedule, and communication.

  • Lead the assigned capital packages related to design, capital requests, procurement (including, scope of works documents, contracts and change orders), budget, schedule, installation and commissioning

  • Follows the Project Execution Manual Check Lists (Stage gate process) applying the standard tools at each step of the project (risk register, change register, etc)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

WORKING CONDITIONS

Manufacturing plant is not temperature controlled; dust, fumes, and high noise areas are present inside plant areas. Manufacturing processes involve granules, sand, fiberglass, asphalt coating, crushed rock, and polypropylene. Noise levels exceed 80 dB in some areas of the site. Moving equipment such as forklifts, buggies, genie booms and industrial sweepers travel throughout the facility, sometimes in congested areas.

 

Requirements

  • Requires a high school diploma or GED
  • High School Education and/or AS or AAS Electrical/Electronic Technology Degree, Mechatronics, Industrial Technology or AS or BS in Electronics Engineering Technology or Mechanical Engineering Technology or five to ten (5-10) years of professional experience and knowledge in maintenance disciplines, such as automated control systems, safety qualifications, and professional industrial maintenance in a manufacturing environment
