Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage sandbox environments that allow for safe experimentation and innovation without impacting broader business operations.

  • Manage the development and implementation of application solutions, such as Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), project management dashboards, and metrics reporting tools.
  • Foster strong relationships with IT leadership and other business functions to ensure R&D infrastructure needs are understood and addressed.
  • Prepare and present technical reviews and proposals for IT and R&D leadership, effectively communicating infrastructure requirements, progress, and impact.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

  • BS Degree with a minimum of 18+ years’ experience, or MS with 13+ years of experience in Information technology, computer science, or other related fields.
  • Experience working in a large corporate IT setting. Must possess a body of technical work commensurate with their years of experience (IP, Patents, Technical documents)
  • Project leadership and execution Demonstrated experience leading IT projects and building infrastructure to support data science, IoT, or similar technology-driven initiatives.
  • Proven track record of influencing IT practices to support new and innovative uses of technology in a business context.
  • Experience with Azure and containerization/orchestration tools (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes) for creating scalable, on-demand sandbox environments.
  • Understanding of data pipelines, ETL processes, and data governance frameworks.
  • Evidence of staying current with new technologies (e.g. AI/ML frameworks, IoT platforms, and advanced simulation) and a record of incorporating them into an enterprise setting.

Senior Research Engineer I - Filtration Technology

Saint Gobain Research North America’s Life Sciences Filtration Technologies team is searching for a talented Senior Research Engineer I to join their team.

The position of Senior Research Engineer I will be responsible for researching and developing new technologies to strengthen and expand our filtration offerings. The selected candidate will lead R&D projects from the initial stages of conceptualization and prototyping through experimental testing and commercialization by leveraging their experience and materials science expertise. This role involves close collaboration with R&D colleagues, the commercial team, application engineers, and end-users. Projects will focus on understanding filtration technology landscape, identifying unmet industry pain points, and developing innovative solutions to meet customer needs.

This role will be located at the Saint-Gobain North America Research Center, and it will work closely with the Life Sciences R&D teams and Competency Research Laboratories. The Filtration portfolio covers markets and applications such as medical devices, biopharma, cell and gene therapy, diagnostics, and semiconductor manufacturing.

Essential Functions

  • Utilizes strong research and/or project experiences and broad expertise in engineering and material science to improve on/or develop new filtration solutions.
  • Manages projects from inception through scale-up. Manages multiple projects simultaneously, on time, well documented and within budget to meet business and customer objectives. Able to balance creativity with process and documentation.
  • Builds close relationships with customers, product management, R&D team, application engineers, and position himself/herself as a technical expert to address customer challenges, explain our products and technology, and assist with product and application development.
  • Work with quality, customers and application engineers to troubleshoot and analyze complaints and differentiate between application and product-related issues. Aids in the investigation and timely resolution of quality complaints.
  • Stays aware of new technology and product developments within the markets and applications of interest to the Life Science Business.
  • Excellent communicator who can communicate technically with internal and external collaborators and utilize knowledge to identify solutions, advance projects and identify productive synergies.
  • Understands Gate Process and Change/Design Control methodology/ideology and utilizes and incorporates it in projects.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

Education:

BS degree and 7 years’ experience, MS degree and 3 years’ experience or PhD (entry level) in Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, Biomedical Engineering, Biotechnology, or related fields.

Experience – Required:

  • 4+ years of experience with fundamental research, product development, application development, or manufacturing experience in Life Science fields.
  • 4+ years of hands-on experience on laboratory work, preferably in Life science applications.
  • 3+ years of experience in the management or running a project. Includes creating timelines, costing, communicating, presenting to leadership, etc.

Experience – Preferred:

  • 3+ years of strong fundamental and practical knowledge of filtration technology and applications in markets such as Biopharma, medical, and microelectronics.
    • 3+ years of experience in the development of filtration products and applications.

Industrial Maintenance Electrician

This position is essential for safely analyzing and correcting electrical machinery malfunctions. WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

GENERAL

• A minimum of five (5) years of experience in Electrical Machine repair is required, with a two (2) year Technical Degree in Electronics preferred.

• This role involves working across various areas of our manufacturing facility. The candidate must be able to work independently, efficiently, and safely. A strong ability to learn quickly and perform all required duties is essential.

• The position requires demonstrated teamwork, leadership, and a willingness to assist colleagues in a collaborative work environment.

 

ESSENTIAL

• Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with PLC programming and programming of AC/DC motor drives. Must be fully capable of wiring, installing conduit, disconnects, and other related electrical components for voltages up to 600 volts. Proficient in operating electrical switch gears and vacuum switches for voltages up to 600 volts.

• Willingness to work overtime and occasionally on short notice.

• Ability to read, interpret, and update blueprints, schematics, machine manuals, and drawings. Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.

• Requires troubleshooting expertise, along with mechanical and electrical/electronic aptitude. Knowledge of power transmission, bearings, seals, and electrical components is essential. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, mechanical aptitude, and effective communication are also required.

 

PHYSICAL

• Must be physically able to stand, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, twist, lift, push, pull, climb, balance, crouch, and handle or move items weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance.

• Visual acuity must be corrected to effectively perform job functions, with the ability to distinguish colors as required for the role.

• Must be able to move freely throughout all areas of the plant floor, receiving areas, and the outside perimeter of the facility.

• Ability to wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE) to safely perform job functions.

• Capable of standing and/or sitting continuously for a full shift with a meal break.

• Must be able to climb ladders or stairs to a height of approximately 8 feet and perform tasks at that height.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

Requirements - What do you bring?

  • Preference will be given to candidates with machine installation experience.

  • The candidate will be a journeyperson or certified electrician. A red seal would be an asset.

  • Extensive working knowledge of SCADA systems, preferably ‘GE’ iFix. Must also be confident working with PLC/control system Historian and ‘pulling tags’ to record trends.

  • Administration of customer portals to maintain up-to-date information and accessibility.
  • Analyze customer score cards and initiate corrective actions when necessary.
  • Monitor and evaluate retroactive impacts of price changes and prepare change letters for customers.
  • Build tools/files to support Quotation process. Update quotes/ perform quotes on standard product range.
  • Create and Document procedures for handling PPAP/FAI (First Article Inspection) demands (i.e.: Sales Order creation, work order conditions, machine transfers)
  • Coordinate extraordinary transactions (i.e. equipment or materials sales/transfers) /and create procedures for streamlined future occurrences.
  • Assist Application Engineering department with part number creations on new materials.
  • Collaborate on and coordinate cross-functional initiatives to improve customer service and business processes.
  • Review and interpret customer terms and conditions to ensure alignment with company policies.
  • Screen customer supplier manuals for business liability considerations, documenting exceptions as necessary.
  • Monitor and mitigate business exposure related to sales agreements and practices.

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, supply chain or legal studies required
  • Paralegal related experience or education is a strong preference.

Lynchburg Mill is seeking an hourly Mechanical Maintenance Technician with the ability to provide primary millwright skills for the Lynchburg Mill.

The position reports to the Mechanical Maintenance Superintendent but at times may report to other maintenance managers, the Production Superintendent, the Production Supervisors, or the General Manager depending on circumstances.

The technician is expected to follow plant safety procedures such as Lockout/Tagout, pre-task checklists, confined space entry, etc. Typically this will be a day shift position, but overtime and/or shift work may be required to complete assigned tasks, perform work on extended machine outages, or other requirements that may arise.

What’s the job?

  • Participate in site JSAs, Risk Assessments, Gemba & SMAT programs
  • Participate and support 5S process.
  • May be required to perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.

  • Lead R&D initiatives in the areas of process development and industrialization, scale up of new materials and product designs, design control, raw material qualifications, and manufacturing solutions, having a strong foundation in engineering, technology development, and process evaluation. Phases of development include pilot, scale-up, and implementation of R&D processes and new products into manufacturing at plant specific locations.
  • Collaborate with R&D colleagues, product managers, product engineers, operations, quality, purchasing teams, and external suppliers, to create and execute project plans, supervise the design of experiments, analyze data, and present findings in written and oral formats.
  • Manage portfolio of projects and drives those projects to completion thus making direct impacts in technical, operational, and business aspects of roofing products.
